Abstract

The invention concerns containers for use in the storage and preparation of consumables, for example instant coffee, and to a method of making such containers. In one aspect, there is provided according to the invention a container for use in the storage and preparation of a consumable, the container comprising a vessel (1) in which the preparation is to occur, an insert (4) attached to the vessel, the insert having a further container which holds the consumable in dried or concentrated form, sealing means (14) for hermetically sealing the further container, and releasing means (16) which is openable to allow the contents of the container to interact with liquid poured into the vessel.
