Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a nasal insertable device for facilitating breathing through the nose.
  • the most narrow air passage during normal breathing is through the upper airways, in particular through the nostrils of the nose.
  • the inhalation of air through the nostrils results in a further narrowing of the nostrils because the sides of the nose are sucked inwards, which may constrict the breathing and thus the air intake.
  • This reduction of the size of the airflow passage may result in difficulties in breathing for some persons. Such breathing difficulties may be experienced, e.g. by elderly people, by physical performance or during sleeping.
  • an adhesive nose patch may be used. This bridges the nostrils on the outside of the nose, and thereby prevents the nose side walls from contracting. This allows for an enhanced air intake and is frequently used by e.g. athletes for enhancing their physical performance.
