Abstract

The invention relates to a method for controlling power for a mobile communications terminal, which comprises a battery with a time-dependent battery voltage and comprises a power amplifier. The invention provides that before the transmission of a signal, the battery voltage is determined by a control and testing unit and is compared to a predetermined upper threshold voltage U nominal*. The signal is transmitted with a predetermined transmit power while creating a voltage dip Δ U1, which is correlated with the predetermined transmit power, when the battery voltage is greater than the upper threshold voltage U nominal*. The signal is transmitted with a reduced transmit power while creating a voltage dip Δ U2, which is correlated with the reduced transmit power, when the battery voltage is less than or equal to the upper threshold voltage U nominal*. The reduced transmit power is selected in such a manner that the battery voltage minus the voltage dip Δ U2, which is correlated with the reduced transmit power, is greater than or equal to a predetermined lower threshold voltage U burst.
