Abstract
The present invention relates to fastening means for fixing two items with respect to one another, for example for fastening an item (7) in a packaging box (8), comprising a first fastening part (2) that can be fixed to one of the items, a second fastening part (3) that can be fixed to the other item and a locking member (4) by means of which the fastening parts can be locked with respect to one another.
Description
Fastening means
The invention relates to the fastening of two items with respect to one another for packaging purposes. It is frequently desirable, for example, to fasten an item in packaging, such as a packaging box. The item cannot then start to shift in the packaging during transport. This is particularly important for the packing and transport of fragile items, such as plants and flowers and the like. On the other hand, it must be easy for the end user to remove the packed and fastened item from the packaging.
As a result of various trends there is a growing need to despatch goods to consumers. These trends are, inter alia, the growth in purchasing products via the Internet and the increasing possibilities and need for individualised production and supply.
Adequate packaging methods exist for many products, but the despatch of fragile products in particular encounters drawbacks. This is usually solved by holding the product firmly in foam, shredded paper, bags containing air and the like. Alternatively, products are tied to part of the packaging using plastic film or self-adhesive tape. With all of these methods it is necessary to exert pressure on the product from several sides. In the case of some products, such as flower arrangements, this is not possible. These products generally can be fixed on only one side.
The aim of the invention is to provide fastening means with which both fixing items with respect to one another and the removal of these from one another can be carried out inexpensively and easily. Said aim is achieved by fastening means for fixing two items with respect to one another, for example for fastening an item in a packaging box, comprising a first fastening part that can be fixed to one of the items, a second fastening part that can be fixed to the other item and a locking member by means of which the fastening parts can be locked with respect to one another.
By operating the locking member the items can now be fastened with respect to one another and also released from one another. This can be carried out in various ways. For example, the fastening parts can each have a fastening head on the sides thereof that face one another. The locking member then has a bowl that encloses the two fastening heads in the locked position.
According to another possibility the fastening means can have telescopic parts on those sides thereof that face one another, the locking member having a pin that extends through openings in the telescopic parts in the locked position.
The locking member can be joined to an operating grab, for example a rod.
The fastening parts can be fixed to the items in various ways. For instance, the fastening parts can have a plate for fixing to one of the items. The plate can have an adhesive layer. As an alternative, the fastening parts can have a suction cup, a screw and the like.
The invention will be explained in more detail below with reference to the possible embodiments shown in the figures.
Figure 1 shows the connecting element according to the invention in an exploded state. Figure 2 shows a side view of the connecting element together with a product and packaging in the exploded state.
Figure 3 shows a side view of the connecting element.
Figure 4 shows the adapter provided with a suction cup.
Figure 5 shows the adapter provided with a threaded section. Figure 6 shows another embodiment of the connecting element.
The connecting element, indicated in its entirety by 1 in Figure 1, consists of at least three parts 2, 3 and 4. The first fastening part 2 is fixed by plate 20 to the fixing surface 12 of the product 7 to be packed, the second fastening part 3 is fixed by plate 21 to the packaging 8, whilst the locking member 4 provides the link between the two abovementioned fastening parts 2 and 3. The locking member 4 is provided with a shank 18. The length of the shank is preferably such that the eye 19 fixed thereon protrudes underneath the product.
As a result of their shape the two fastening parts 2, 3 engage in one another and as a result do not allow any movement parallel to the fixing surface 12. The locking member 4 links the two fastening parts 2, 3 such that movement perpendicular to the fixing surface is also prevented, hi this way a stable link between the product 7 and the packaging 8 can be obtained.
The join to the product or to the packaging can be made in various ways. Preferably, the fastening parts 2 and 3 are provided with a double-sided adhesive tape 5 with a protective sheet 6. After removing the protective sheet 6, the fastening part 2 or 3 can be stuck to the product 7 or the packaging 8. Another joining method is, for example, sticking with liquid adhesive or hot melt. As can be seen in drawing 4, the fastening parts 2 and/or 3 can be provided with a suction cap 10 and thus joined to the product or the
packaging by pressing on. As can be seen in drawing 5, it is possible to provide the fastening parts 2 and/or 3 with a threaded section 9. The fastening parts 2, 3 can then be screwed into the product or the packaging. The two fastening parts 2 and 3 can also be joined to the product and the packaging, respectively, in a different way. In order to be able to fit the complete connecting element easily, the parts 2, 3 and 4 are preferably pre-assembled. The additional fastening means 5, 6, 9 or 10 are also preferably pre-assembled.
The method is, for example, as follows:
A few, preferably completely pre-assembled connecting elements 1 are fixed to the fixing side of the product 7 to be packed. The product is then fixed in the packaging with the aid of the connecting elements 1. The shank 18 of each locking member 4 preferably protrudes underneath the product 7. The packaging 8 can be closed and the product 7 can be despatched, well protected by the packaging. When the product 7 has to be removed from the packaging 8, it suffices to pull the eye 19 of the connectors 4 that is fixed on the shank 18 and to remove this. The product 7 is now loose in the packaging 8 and can be removed. The fastening part 2 can remain on the product 7 and acts as a foot. The fastening part 3 remains in the packaging 8, but can then also be removed for re-use or waste sorting. In the variant in Figure 1, 2 and 3 the fastening parts 2, 3 are linked to one another in that their heads 11, 12 are held in the bowl 13 on the shank 18 of the locking member 4. In the variant in Figure 6a and 6b the link is produced by inserting the shank 18 in the holes 16, 17 in the telescopic parts 14, 15 slid into one another.
