Technical Field
The present invention relates to a tone quality compensating speaker for a television, and more particularly to speaker system for reproducing very low frequency and ultra high frequency well in television, which is installed in a speaker stage of the television and can reproduce original sound with a wide sound ambience and a high resolution (loudness, level and tone of sound) by extracting a very low frequency band and an ultra high frequency band, removing noise from them and then mixing them with the existing sound to make an output spectrum over the whole frequency band perfect and natural.
Background Art
Although human audible range has a bandwidth of 20 Hz to 20 kHz, there has not been created as yet a full range speaker which perfectly reproduces the whole frequency band of the human audible range by one speaker.
Accordingly, providers manufacturing sound equipment employ a multi-way method in which the whole frequency band of the human audible range is reproduced just like one full range by separating low, mid and high frequencies from each other and reproducing them with separate speakers according to the relevant frequency bands. Generally, in such a multi- way method, a speaker reproducing a low frequency effect is referred as "woofer", a speaker reproducing a mid frequency effect is referred as "mid range", and a speaker reproducing a high frequency effect is referred to as "tweeter". Speakers using the multi-way method are also categorized as a two-way speaker, a three-way speaker and so on according to their constructions. However, in reproducing a very low frequency effect (hereinafter referred to as "VLF") less than 100 Hz, it is difficult to perfectly reproduce the low frequency with only one individual speaker unit, and vibration and sound pressure are very strong, by reason of which it is usual that a separate enclosure is designed to reproduce the VLF. A woofer with such a separate enclosure is referred as "sub- woofer". In reproducing an ultra high frequency effect (hereinafter referred to as "UHF") of 18,000 Hz or more, the frequency of the use of a sound source with such a bandwidth is low and its reproduction result has little influence on realizing an acoustic effect due to an extreme directional property (ultrasonic region) even if the relevant frequency band is reproduced, so that reproducing the UHF is usually neglected or insufficiently treated. Since reproducing the VLF requires manufacture of a separate enclosure and reproducing the UHF has little influence on realizing an acoustic effect, TV manufacturers, who are in a position to wish to reduce a prime cost through mass production and to have a competitive price on the basis of the cost saving, may judge that they would be better to abandon or negligently treat the reproduction of theses bandwidths so as to maximize their profits. This is because most of the enclosures use wooden cases of medium density fiber ( DF) for maintaining tone quality and these wooden pattern manufactures requiring a high proportion of manual work processes are disadvantageous for mass production as compared with injection molding works. In a case of a reinforcement tweeter which perfectly reproduces the UHF, the above-mentioned judgment is because the effectiveness of increasing a sensible acoustic effect is low in comparison with its price.
The TV manufacturers have another important reason to abandon or negligently treat the reproduction of VLF and UHF in TV sound. Most of TV viewers teleview by receiving ground waves via an YAGI antenna. Since the ground waves have a bandwidth of 300 Hz to 3,300 Hz in which the frequency band of a sending sound source is only at most 3,000 Hz due to structural defects, an acoustic effect cannot but be fundamentally lowered.
For these reasons, the TV manufacturers have come to abandon or negligently treat the reproduction of VLF and UHF in TV sound, which results in putting limitation on an output frequency band range of TV sound and thus the audible range for a sound source to be heard by TV viewers. In the end, TV viewers listen to very different sound from original sound. A typical symptom developed by limiting an output frequency band of original sound is a phenomenon in which TV viewers have difficulty in hearing TV sound while the TV makes a buzz. Because of this phenomenon, it is difficult to hear TV sound when TV viewers teleview at home or in an audiovisual room.
However, such a phenomenon is involved with further complex causes as well as the limitation of a frequency band. First, this phenomenon may be caused by a simple problem in quality of a relevant TV speaker system or abnormality of a resonance device of a TV space in which a speaker system is contained. However, it is caused in not a few cases by a sound masking phenomenon.
The sound masking phenomenon is a phenomenon in which sound of a strong frequency band countervails sound of surrounding frequency bands and a sound pressure balance for a spectrum over the whole frequency band is lost, so that a sound ambience and a wideband description are considerably deteriorated. This phenomenon is one of typical reasons why it is difficult to hear TV sound while the TV sound makes a buzz .
Rearranging all of the above-mentioned situations, it can be seen that TV manufacturers abandon or negligently treat the reproduction of VLF and UHF because they cannot but undertake the following problems when they reproduce VLF and UHF:
First, additional manufacturing costs for separate equipment such as an enclosure, etc. are burdened; Second, the enclosure uses a wooden pattern which is unfavorable to mass production due to a high proportion of manual work processes;
Third, an excessive prime cost is imposed for a slight improvement of a sensible acoustic effect; Fourth, a frequency band received by a ground wave is fundamentally limited;
Fifth, it is desired that the sound masking phenomenon be solved.
Rapid progress of acoustic technology has led viewers to be able to see and hear movies and music performances having excellent tone quality incomparable with TV sound as well as good image quality by means of various media equipment in the home. A home theater, a typical kind of media equipment, enables the viewers to enjoy a superior stereophonic sound effect through a DVD player and a surround speaker system. Because of such a home theater, however, the viewers are discontented with ground wave broadcasting which sends only a limited frequency band far below human audible range, stereo- or mono-tone quality of a VTR and so forth which reproduce inferior sound sources. Disclosure of the Invention
Accordingly, the present invention has been made to solve the above-mentioned problems occurring in the prior art, and an object of the present invention is to provide speaker system for reproducing very low frequency and ultra high frequency well in television, which is so constructed that it makes an output spectrum over the whole frequency band perfect and natural and thus can realize a tone quality with a wide sound ambience and a high resolution by receiving an input audio signal through an audio output terminal of a TV, amplifying the audio signal, separating the relevant signal into a very low frequency effect and an ultra high frequency effect and then outputting them along with the existing TV sound through each of speakers which are built in a separate enclosure from the TV.
In order to accomplish this object, there is provided speaker system for reproducing very low frequency and ultra high frequency well in television in accordance with one aspect of the present invention, the speaker system comprising: a rectangular-shaped enclosure being long in an upward direction and being formed with a fixed inner space; a front cover being provided on a front plate of the enclosure and including a tweeter and an operating part mounted thereto, the tweeter and the operating part being isolated from a rear space by a front cap; a rear plate being provided on a rear surface of the enclosure and including a line in/out terminal part which is connected to an audio output terminal of a TV, a very low/ultra high frequency compensating part and a power source part for supplying the compensating part with driving power mounted thereto; a baffle plate being provided on one side directly behind the front cap, dividing the inner space of the enclosure into a front space part and a rear space part and having a woofer mounted thereto while facing the rear plate; and a cylindrical duct being isolated from the front space part and providing communication between the front plate and the rear space part to send forward reproduction sound of the woofer.
In accordance with another aspect of the present invention, the very low/ultra high frequency compensating part comprises right and left side main volumes connected to a line in terminal which is in turn connected to an audio output terminal of a TV, an amplifying part connected to right and left side audio output stages of the main volumes, a very low frequency compensating part provided at an output stage of the amplifying part, connected to the woofer and including a low-pass part, a low frequency adjusting volume and a power amplifying part which are connected one after another to each other, and an ultra high frequency compensating part provided at the output stage of the amplifying part, connected to the tweeter and including a high-pass part, a high frequency adjusting volume and a power amplifying part which are connected one after another to each other. Also, the compensating speaker system with a built-in amplifier is characterized in that it comprises a single enclosure within which a mid range driver unit is not included, but only a driver unit for reproducing a very low frequency and a driver unit for reproducing an ultra high frequency are included.
In accordance with further another aspect of the present invention, a line out terminal is further connected to the respective output stages of the right and left side volumes via their respective noise removal parts and power amplifying parts .
rief Description of the Drawings
The above and other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will be more apparent from the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which: FIG. 1 is an external perspective view of a speaker system in accordance with one preferred embodiment of the present invention;
FIG. 2 is an internal construction view of the speaker system in FIG. 1; and FIG. 3 is a detailed construction view of an electronic circuit part in accordance with the present invention. Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention
Hereinafter, a preferred embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings .
FIG. 1 is a perspective view showing an external appearance of a speaker system in accordance with one preferred embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view of the speaker system in FIG. 1.
Since the speaker system of the present invention is intended to make a clear and vivid TV sound by extracting a very low frequency and an ultra high frequency, which have been negligently treated in a TV audio system, and outputting them along with a TV sound, the speaker system is installed in a place adjacent to a TV by nature. Accordingly, an enclosure 10, which forms an external appearance of the speaker system and serves as a resonance cavity, forms a hollow rectangular parallelepiped of a comparatively compact structure, front face of which is a rectangle having a longer size in an up-and-down direction than in right-and-left direction and side face of which is a rectangle having a longer size in width than in height.
A front cover 18 is provided on a front plate 11 of the enclosure 10. A tweeter 12 capable of reproducing a high frequency effect of 2 kHz to 23 kHz, a power source switch 13 for controlling a power source of the speaker system, a power source lamp 14 for checking an on/off state, a treble volume 15 for adjusting an output level of a ultra high frequency effect, a main volume 16 for adjusting an overall output level and a base volume 17 for adjusting an output level of a very low frequency effect are mounted to the front cover 18, and a front cap 20 is provided behind the front cover 18 to isolate the front cover 18 from an inner space of the enclosure 10. A cover 19 covering peripheries of a duct outlet through which a low frequency is outputted as described below is integrated with an upper end of the front cover 18.
A rear face of the enclosure 10 is provided with a rear plate 22 hermetically disposed opposite to the front plate 11. A line in/out terminal part 23 which can be connected to an audio output terminal of a TV and to, for example, a RCA connector, a main PCB 24 to which a very low/ultra high frequency compensating part is mounted, and a power source part 25 for supplying the very low/ultra high frequency compensating part with a driving power source are provided on the rear plate 22. The very low/ultra high frequency compensating part extracts a very low frequency and an ultra high frequency from an audio signal entering a line in terminal of the line in/out terminal part to reproduces the very low frequency and the ultra high frequency.
A baffle plate 29 dividing the inner space of the enclosure 10 into a front space part 26 and a rear space part 27 is provided directly behind the front cap 20, and a super- woofer 28 is mounted to the baffle plate 29 while facing the rear plate 22. The super-woofer 28 is an active sub-woofer which can output a low frequency effect of 10 Hz to 150 Hz. The baffle plate 29 serves to isolate the front space part 26 of the super-woofer 28 from the rear space parts 27 thereof so as to prevent interference between a sound wave radiated from the front face of the super-woofer 28 and a sound wave radiated from the rear face thereof.
In addition to the super-woofer 28, a cylindrical duct 30 is mounted in a lower portion of the baffle plate 29. The cylindrical duct 30 is isolated, from the front space part 26, but communicates the front plate 11 with the rear space part 27 to transmit forward reproduction sound of the super-woofer 28. Consequently, a very low frequency sound wave radiated by the super-woofer 28 resonates within the rear space part 27 and radiates forward through the cylindrical duct 30.
FIG. 3 shows a detailed construction of an electronic circuit part in accordance with the present invention.
By way of right and left side main volumes 16R, 16L for adjusting the intensities of right and left side signals, an amplifying part 31 is connected to the line in terminal of the line in/out terminal part 23 which is in turn connected to an audio output terminal of a TV and to a RCA cable.
A very low frequency compensating part for reproducing a ' low frequency effect of 10 Hz to 150 Hz is provided at an output stage of the amplifying part 31 and is connected to the woofer 28. The very low frequency compensating part includes a low-pass part 32, a base volume 17 as a low frequency adjusting volume and a power amplifying part 33 which are connected in succession to each other. An ultra high frequency compensating part for reproducing a high frequency effect of 2 kHz to 23 kHz is also provided at the output stage of the amplifying part 31 and is connected to the tweeter 12. The ultra high frequency compensating part includes a treble volume 15 as a high frequency adjusting volume, a high-pass part 34 and a power amplifying part 35 which are connected in succession to each other.
Also, the right and left side main volumes 16R, 16L, which are connected to the line in terminal of the line in/out terminal part 23 and is used for adjusting the intensities of right and left side signals, are connected to a line out terminal of the line in/out terminal part 23 via a left side signal amplifying part and a right side signal amplifying part. The left side signal amplifying part consists of a noise removal part 36 and a power amplifying part 37, and the right side signal amplifying part consists of a noise removal part 38 and a power amplifying part 39. These measures are intended to make it possible to connect another speaker in addition to the speaker system in accordance with the present invention. A power source part 40 for supplying the respective circuit parts with necessary driving power is connected to a power source stage of the very low and ultra high frequency compensating parts and the right and left side signal amplifying parts. The power source part 40 consists of a fuse Fl, a transformer Tl, a bridge diode Dll and so forth.
A power source lamp 14, which is connected to one side stage of the power source part 40, is lighted when power is inputted and thus can indicate outwardly an operation state of the speaker system in accordance with the present invention.
In the speaker system of the above-stated construction, if TV sound is inputted to the line in terminal, a very low frequency effect signal is extracted from the very low frequency compensating part, is reproduced and is then outputted through the woofer 28. In the same manner, an ultra high frequency effect signal is extracted from the ultra high frequency compensating part, is reproduced and is then outputted through the tweeter 12. According to the speaker system of the present invention, therefore, TV audio signals for the overall audible frequency band can be reproduced by reproducing and outputting very low and ultra high frequency effect audio signals along with a mid frequency outputted from an audio system of a TV.
Industrial Applicability As described above, the present invention provides sound equipment for exclusive use in a TV, to which a reinforcement tweeter is mounted in addition to a basic structure of an active sub-woofer with a built-in amplifier. This sound equipment has an advantage in that it makes an output spectrum over the whole frequency band of TV sound perfect and natural and thus can realize a tone quality with a wide sound ambience and a high resolution by receiving an input audio signal through an audio output terminal of a TV and reproducing very low and ultra high frequency effects, which exists in a sound source but cannot be reproduced in the TV, using the sub-woofer and the tweeter provided therein to construct a new conceptual multi-way including all of low, mid and high frequencies with respect to a mid range of the existing TV sound.
