Abstract

The invention relates to a method for the removal of a film of crude oil from the surface of the water, whereby the crude oil is locally collected and then removed from the area of collection. The crude oil, located on the surface of the water in the form of a film, is collected on the surface of the body of water in a volumetric body which is itself made of water which contains said volumetric body by means of the rotation thereof without a progressing horizontal movement of the water layer close to the surface. The rotational movement is generated by a body submerged in the water, the rotational energy from which is transferred to the water or generated by means of a water jet pump. The above volumetric body lies completely below the level of the surface of the water.
