Definitions

  • Device suitable for wear on the head of a user and head-borne display having such a device
  • the present invention relates to a device suitable for wear on the head of a user and comprising a first circumferential band, the circumference of which is adjustable by means of a manual adjusting mechanism, and a second band, the two ends of which are secured or integrated in the first band to form a relieving strap.
  • the invention also relates to a head-borne display having such a device.
  • a device is previously known by virtue of, for example, US patent 5 321 416.
  • a circumferential band is herein adjusted by the rotary motion which is applied to a rotary knob and which is translated into a mutual linear motion in which the ends of the band overlap.
  • the relieving strap has a given, non- adjustable length. The design therefore has clear limitations in terms of the scope to adjust the device according to different head shapes and can thus be uncomfortable to wear.
  • the object of the present invention is to obtain a device suitable for wear, on the head of a user, which device is simple to adjust to the head of the wearer and sits steadily and yet comfortably in place.
  • the object of the invention is achieved by virtue of a device according to the first paragraph of the description, characterized in that the second band, in the form of the relieving strap, is configured with a self-adjusting tension-relief mechanism.
  • the introduction of a self-adjusting relieving strap means that the user needs only make one adjustment, corresponding to the hat size, which adjusts the circumferential band to the head shape of the user. This adjustment can be achieved with an easily accessible adjusting mechanism operated by a rotary knob. The whole adjustment can therefore be made in a single operation.
  • User trials with prototypes consistent with the inventive concept have shown that the majority of users quickly learn to handle the device. Putting it on is comparatively simple and can be roughly compared with donning a cap.
