Abstract

L'invention concerne un cluster de praséodyme de formule (1) [Pr6O(OH) 8 (NO3) 6 (H2O) n] 2+ (1), n étant égal à 12 ou 14, ainsi qu'une dispersion qui comprend des clusters selon cette formule (1) dans une phase liquide aqueuse ou dans une phase liquide à base d'un solvant polaire non protogène. Le cluster de l'invention peut être obtenu par un procédé dans lequel on forme une solution d'un nitrate de praséodyme; on met en présence ladite solution et une base en quantité telle que le rapport molaire OH/Pr soit d'au plus 1; on concentre le milieu obtenu à l'étape précédente de manière à obtenir une concentration en praséodyme d'au moins 1 mol./l ce par quoi on obtient une dispersion aqueuse dudit cluster. Par évaporation de cette dispersion on obtient un solide qui peut être remis en suspension dans le solvant polaire précité.Le cluster de l'invention peut être utilisé dans la fabrication de catalyseurs.
