GOLF SWING PRACTICER
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a golf swing exerciser, and more particularly to a golf swing exerciser of which the structure is very simple and the height can be adjusted to suit physical conditions of a golf player, whereby the golf player can properly practice swinging a golf club, which comprises a fundamental of golf, by himself/herself .
Background Art
Generally, swinging comprises a fundamental of golf that is the most important skill for beginners to expert golfers. In other words, the swing, by which a golf ball is hit, is of utmost importance in playing golf. Swings are basically classified into a long swing, which is required when the golf ball is to be hit a long distance by means of a driver or an iron club, and a short swing, which is required when the golf ball is to be hit a short distance by means of a putter.
The most proper, i.e., ideal swing, irrespective of whether the swing is a long swing or a short swing, is a swing that is performed according to a principle of the pendulum
swing, i.e., in constant tempo while the golf club is moved along a fixed path like a pendulum weight of a clock.
Many inexperienced golf players who take much delight in golfing try to exercise the proper swing using various methods for exercising golf swing. For example, the inexperienced golf players take golf lessons individually or in groups from expert golf players in indoor driving ranges so that they learn how to properly swing the golf club. However, the above-mentioned golf lessons cost a great deal. Furthermore, the inexperienced golf players may not master proper swings when they take golf lessons in groups since they have different motor nerves from each other.
As a result, most of the inexperienced golf players learn how to properly swing the golf club under expert golf players' special teachings. In this case, however, it is difficult for the inexperienced golf players to master proper swings depending upon the expert golf players' teaching methods or individual variations of the inexperienced golf players. In the conventional method for properly swinging the golf club, the inexperienced golf player practices swinging while the expert golf player holds a golf club or a stick similar to the golf club in front of the inexperienced golf player, who watches the golf club or the stick when he/she swings.
However, the golf club or the stick held by the expert golf player is not always placed at a fixed position. Furthermore, it is not possible to confirm whether the inexperienced golf players always swing in a constant swing form since they have different motor nerves from each other. It is also not possible to confirm whether the inexperienced golf players swing in a proper swing form. Consequently, it is very difficult to learn how to properly swing the golf club. Recently, various kinds of golf swing exercising devices have been proposed in order to solve the above-mentioned problems. However, each of the golf swing exercising devices has a complex structure, and costs a great deal. Consequently, the conventional golf swing exercising devices impose an economically heavy burden on the inexperienced golf players with the result that they cannot easily purchase the devices .

Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention
Now, preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings .
Fig. 1 is an exploded perspective view showing a golf swing exerciser according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, Fig. 2 is an assembled perspective view showing the golf swing exerciser of Fig. 1, and Fig. 3 is a front view showing the golf swing exerciser of Fig. 2.
As shown in the drawings, the golf swing exerciser for assisting a golf player in learning how to properly swing a golf club according to the present invention comprises: a base plate 10 formed in the shape of a box so that the base
plate 10 is smoothly supported on the ground, the base plate 10 having a rectangular opening 12 longitudinally formed at the middle of the base plate 10; a pair of supporting members 20 of which the heights are smoothly adjustable, each of the supporting members 20 comprising a first supporting part 22, a second supporting part 24 fitted in the first supporting part 22 such that the second supporting part 24 can be inserted into or drawn out from the first supporting part 22, and a fastening nut 25 for securely fastening the first and second supporting parts 22 and 24, the lower end of the first supporting part 22 being inserted through the rectangular opening 12 while dual nuts are fitted on the first supporting part above and below the rectangular opening 12, respectively, such that the first supporting part 22 can be smoothly moved from side to side along the rectangular opening 12; and a guiding plate 30 fixed to the upper ends of the supporting members such that the guiding plate 30 is inclined from one side to the other side, the guiding plate 30 having a curved guiding part 32 formed at one of the longitudinal edges thereof, whereby proper swings are accomplished when the backward swings are performed while a golf player concentrates his/her attention on the guiding plate 30, and no interference due to the swings is caused. In the above-mentioned golf swing exerciser according
to the present invention, the curved guiding part 32 of the guiding plate 30 is preferably formed in the shape of a streamline such that the curved guiding part 32 is projected from one side to the other side while having a prescribed width.
Also, the guiding plate is preferably made of a soft material considering that the guiding plate is hit by a golf club due to a wrong swing.
The operation of the golf swing exerciser with the above-described construction according to the present invention will now be described. First, a learner, who wants to learn how to properly swing a golf club, adjusts the height of the supporting members fixed to the base plate depending upon his/her physical dimensions so that the guiding plate is properly positioned.
Following the above-mentioned adjustment, the learner practices required swings while being positioned in front of the curved guiding part of the guiding plate. At this time, the learner practices swinging in constant tempo along the curved guiding part of the guiding plate while watching the guiding plate carefully.
In the case that the learner practices swinging while watching the guiding plate carefully, the learner is effectively prevented from lifting their heads up. Furthermore, the curved guiding part of the guiding plate is
formed in the shape of a streamline, which corresponds to the path formed when the backward swing is performed. Consequently, the swing is performed along the curved guiding part while the golf club does not make contact with the curved guiding part, whereby early opening of the shoulder of the learner is effectively prevented.
As described above, the learner can repeatedly practice swinging in a proper swing form by himself/herself without receiving instruction from a golf trainer according to the present invention so that the learner can learn how to properly swing a golf club in a proper swing form in a short time .
Fig. 4 is a perspective view showing a golf swing exerciser according to another preferred embodiment of the present invention.
As shown in Fig. 4, the golf swing exerciser according to the present invention further comprises: detecting sensors mounted to the front part of the base plate 10, the detecting sensors comprising a first detecting sensor 40 mounted to the front part of the base plate 10 adjacent to one end of the base plate 10 for detecting the velocity of a swing in a moment of impact performed by the swing of the golf player, and second detecting sensors 40a mounted to the front part of the base plate 10 adjacent to the other end of the base plate 10 for detecting whether a backward swing of
the golf player is beyond a prescribed range of the backward swing when the golf player performs the backward swing; and a display unit 50 fixed to the guiding plate 30 above the guiding plate 30 by means of a pair of auxiliary supporter members 200, the display unit 50 comprising a velocity display part 52 connected to the first detecting sensor for displaying the velocity of the swing at the moment of impact, and a confirmation display part 54 having lamps 54a connected to the second detecting sensors for emitting red- colored light when the backward swing of the golf player is beyond the prescribed range of the backward swing and emitting blue-colored light when the backward swing of the golf player is not beyond the prescribed range of the backward swing, whereby the golf player can perform swinging accurately and quickly, and the golf player can directly confirm whether he/she is properly swinging the golf club. The connection of the guiding plate and the auxiliary supporter members 200 and the connection of the display unit 50 and the auxiliary supporter members 200 may be accomplished by means of screws or welding.
Alternatively, the display unit may include sound emitting parts connected to the second detecting sensors for indicating whether the swing is proper or wrong by means of sound, instead of provision of the confirmation display part having lamps.
With the golf swing exerciser according to the above- described embodiment of the present invention, therefore, the golf player can directly confirm the velocity of the swing at the moment of impact when he/she swings and whether his/her swing has been performed in a proper swing form or not. Consequently, the golf player can learn how to swing a golf club in a proper swing form accurately and quickly.
