Description

VESSEL WITH DETACHABLE BASE

FIELD OF THE INVENTION The present invention concerns a glass for drinks, fruit juices, cocktails or other food products, such as for example ice cream, fruit salad or suchlike, having a supporting base which can be selectively detached from the cup. This base is advantageously made of rigid material, resistant and less subject to cracks and breakages than the material of the cup.
Moreover, this base has a shape which identifies the drink contained in the glass, for example the shape of a fruit or other vegetable from which juice can be extracted; it also identifies the user of the glass who chooses which base element to associate with his cup.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION There are known glasses for drinks, fruit juices, cocktails or suchlike having different shapes and sizes according to the drink they contain. Such conventional glasses, especially if they are made of glass or crystal and if equipped with a thin stem and a supporting base, are easily subject to cracks or breakages, particularly in the zone of the base. When this happens, especially when they are used in public premises, the whole glass has to be thrown away, creating an often considerable economic damage and the progressive loss of the elements belonging to the set. Moreover, conventional glasses normally help neither the waiter nor the user to understand the type of cocktail or drink contained therein, which may cause poor service or incorrect choices.
The Applicant has devised and embodied the present invention to overcome these shortcomings of the state of the art, and to obtain further advantages. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention is set forth and characterized essentially in the main claim, while the dependent claims describe other innovative characteristics of the invention. One purpose of the present invention is to achieve a composable glass, that is, where at least the base and the cup can be selectively detached so as to allow one part to be substituted with respect to the other in a simple and rapid manner, for example in the event that one of the two cracks or breaks .
Another purpose of the present invention is to have a glass in which the base can easily reveal, for example by a simple association of ideas, the content of the glass.
In accordance with these purposes, the glass according to the present invention comprises a base element and a cup which can be selectively associated by means of at least temporary coupling means, and the base element has a shape and/or graphics which identify the product contained in the cup or identify the user of the glass. The coupling means comprise a first coupling element made on the upper surface of the base element, and a second coupling element, mating with the first, made on the bottom of the cup.
In a first embodiment, the first coupling element consists of a threaded rod, while the second coupling element consists of a mating threaded hole.
In a second embodiment, the first coupling element consists of a threaded hole, while the second coupling element consists of a mating threaded rod, so that the base element does not have protrusions and can also be used as a coaster for a conventional glass.
According to a variant, the first and the second coupling element consist of reciprocal attachment means with a pin and hole .
According to another variant, said first and second coupling elements consist of trigger-type attachment means.
As explained, the shape of the base element makes possible to easily identify the drink or food contained at that moment in the glass. For example, if the content of the cup is grapefruit juice, the base element will have the shape of a grapefruit and so on for every type of fruit and relative juice. If the content is a cocktail or an alcoholic drink, the base element can have the shape of the fruit or carry the brand name of the drink and so on.
According to another feature, the base element has at least a female notch and at least a mating male protrusion which allow to selectively couple two or more glasses together, thus forming chains of glasses which are partly constrained together, for example on a tray.
With this glass it is therefore possible to recognize the drink it contains only by looking at the type of base element, and to recognize one's own glass among many others; it is also possible to replace only the cup if this part breaks or cracks, without necessarily having to change the whole glass.

These and other characteristics of the present invention will become apparent from the following description of a preferential form of embodiment, given as a non-restrictive example with reference to the attached drawings wherein :

THE INVENTION
With reference to fig. 1, a composable glass 10 according to the present invention comprises a base element
11 and a cup 12 which can be selectively coupled together by means of at least temporary coupling means 20 formed by two coupling elements 21 and 22.
The base element 11 (fig. 2) is preferably made of rigid and resistant material, for example plastic, metal, wood, cork, composite material or otherwise. In this case, the base element 11 is pear-shaped and, in a substantially central zone, has a coupling element 22 consisting in the case shown here of a threaded rod. On one side this base element 11 also has a protrusion 13 with a shape which recalls that of a leaf and, substantially on the opposite side, a notch 14. In this way two glasses 10, 110 can be coupled together by inserting the protrusion 13 of the base element 11 into the notch 114 of the base element 111 of the glass 110.
As desired the protrusion 113 of the element 111 can be inserted into the notch of a third glass, just as a fourth glass can be coupled with the glass 10 by means of the free notch 14 of the latter.
It is thus possible to form chains of glasses 10 partly constrained together and coupled, for example to carry them on a tray or suchlike.
The cup 12 (fig. 3) is shaped according to the drink it contains and, on the bottom, has a second coupling element 21, in this case a threaded hole, able to couple selectively with the rod 22.
The glass 10 as described heretofore can be assembled in its two parts 11 and 12, to allow the user to vary the base element 11 according to the drink contained in the cup 12 , or to replace only the latter in the event that it should break or crack.
Moreover, the glass 10 does not have particularly fragile parts, such as for example the stem which usually joins the cup to the base element, and is therefore stronger than most traditional glasses.
It is clear however that modifications and/or additions of parts may be made to the glass 10 as described heretofore, but these shall remain within the field and scope of the present invention. For example according to another variant, shown in fig 6, the first coupling element 22 can consist of a threaded hole, while the second coupling element 21 can consist of a threaded rod, so that the base element 11 can be used as a coaster for conventional glasses. According to another variant, the coupling elements 21, 22 can be replaced by a ridged element having an elastic anchoring pin able to couple with a respective seating made on the bottom of the cup 12 or the base element 11.
It is also clear that, although the present invention has been described with reference to specific examples, a person of skill shall certainly be able to achieve many other equivalent forms of composable glass, all of which shall come within the field of protection of the present invention.

Claims

1 - Glass comprising a base element (11, 111) and a cup (12), characterized in that said base element (11, 111) and said cup (12) can be selectively associated together by means of at least temporary coupling means (20), and in that said base element (11, 111) has a shape which easily identifies the content of said cup (12) .
2 - Glass as in claim 1, characterized in that said at least temporary coupling means (20) comprise at least a first coupling element (22) made on said base element (11, 111) and at least a second coupling element (21) made on the bottom of said cup (12) .
3 - Glass as in claim 2, characterized in that said first coupling element comprises a threaded rod (22) and said second coupling element comprises a threaded hole (21) .
4 - Glass as in claim 2, characterized in that said first coupling element (22) comprises a threaded hole and said second coupling element (21) comprises a threaded rod.
5 - Glass as in claim 1 or 2 , characterized in that said at least temporary coupling means (20) consist of reciprocal attachment means with a pin and hole.
6 - Glass as in claim 1 or 2 , characterized in that said at least temporary coupling means (20) consist of trigger-type attachment means. 7 - Glass as in claim 1, characterized in that said base element (11, 111) is made of rigid and resistant material.
8 - Glass as in claim 7, characterized in that said base element (11, 111) is made of plastic.
9 - Glass as in claim 7, characterized in that said base element (11, 111) is made of metal.
10 - Glass as in claim 7, characterized in that said base element (11, 111) is made of wood or similar materials.
11 - Glass as in claim 1, characterized in that said base element (11, 111) is shaped like a fruit or other vegetable from which juice can be extracted.
12 - Glass as in any claim hereinbefore, characterized in that said base element (11, 111) comprises at least a notch (14, 114) and at least a mating protrusion (13, 113), the notch (14, 114) of one glass (10, 110) being able to cooperate with the protrusion (113, 13) of another glass (110, 10) so as to create compositions of several glasses (10, 110) .
