Abstract

A removable storage cartridge(10) includes a cartridge loading ramp component(68), such that when the storage cartridge is inserted into a drive an actuator(31) can slide along the cartridge loading ramp component to position read/write heads(42) on a storage disk(36) in the cartridge. The drive includes a corresponding drive loading ramp component to facilitate support of the actuator that has been retracted to an unloaded position.
