Abstract

A dispenser for delivering a predetermined volume of flowable material (13) from a container (10) includes a first valve element (23) reciprocable between first and second positions and a second valve element (41) which moves synchronously with the first valve element. The first valve element (23) defines a space having said predetermined volume and transfers said volume of material to a holding chamber (20) from which it is discharged, by means of an air-blast, when the second valve means has moved from its second position towards its first position to open an outlet (39) of the chamber (20). A manual operating handle (46) is reciprocable to move the first valve element and to generate the air-blast, and ratchet means (47,51:70:51) are provided to prevent other than full upstrokes and downstrokes of the handle (46), thereby ensuring that a full dose of material is dispensed each time the outlet (39) is opened.
