Abstract

L'invention porte sur un procédé de réduction de la formation d'ammoniac dans un processus de reformage d'un combustible tel qu'un processus de reformage autothermique. Ce procédé consiste à mettre à réagir un combustible (16) avec de l'eau (18) et de l'air (20) dans une unité de reformage (12) contenant un lit (14) de catalyseur de métal précieux afin de produire un courant (22) de reformat contenant de l'hydrogène pratiquement exempt d'ammoniac. Le catalyseur de métal précieux peut être, par exemple, le platine, le palladium, le rhodium, le ruthénium, l'iridium et des combinaisons de ces métaux. La température et la pression de fonctionnement de l'unité de reformage (12) peuvent être régulées afin de minimiser la formation d'ammoniac dans le courant (22) de reformage.
