Abstract

Systems and methods for compressing and decompressing data transmitted over a DSL line are described. In one embodiment of the present invention, a transmitting system receives a first set of data values and generates a code corresponding to the set of data values. The transmitting system subsequently receives a second set of data values that is unique to the first set (504). The transmitting system transmits the code in place of the set of data values to decrease the bandwidth required to transmit the data (508). In another embodiment, a receiving system receives the code and the set of data values (602), stores the code and set of data values (604), and outputs the data values (606). The receiving system subsequently receives the code without the data values (608), retrieves the set of data values corresponding to the code (612), and outputs the set of data values (614).
