Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention
The present invention will now be described in detail in connection with preferred embodiments with reference to the accompanying drawings . FIG. 1 illustrates a system for embodying a method for authenticating a delivery person according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention.
Referring to FIG. 1, the system includes a purchaser terminal 10 for transmitting information on a purchaser and purchase information on a product to be purchased and receiving given password information for authentication of a deliver, an electronic commerce server 20 for receiving a purchaser recognition number having information on the purchaser and purchase information on the product, generating password information for authenticating the delivery person and containing information on a delivery company relating to the delivery of the product, a delivery company server 50 for providing information on the delivery company and unique information on the delivery person and controlling a delivery procedure of a corresponding product based on information on the purchaser recognition number, and an authentication database server 30 for receiving password information provided from the electronic commerce server 20, the purchaser recognition number and delivery information, storing unique information on the delivery person provided from the delivery company server 50, for example, information on a terminal number and performing authentication of the delivery person when delivering the product based on information on the terminal number.
The terminal of the delivery person and the authentication database server 30 perform a communication connection via a given connection system 40. Meanwhile, the mutual exchange of information is made through a wired/wireless communication network. The wired/wireless communication network allows electronic commerce through the Internet network and includes electronic commerce through a television (TV) home shopping. Therefore, the purchaser terminal 10 is used to order the product by the purchaser through the Internet. The purchaser terminal 10 may become a personal computer having a wired/wireless telephone, which can be connected to the Internet. Further, the purchaser terminal 10 may be a bi-directional TV when electronic commerce is accomplished through the TV home shopping such as a cable broadcasting, a satellite broadcasting, etc. The electronic commerce server 20 assigns a password for a corresponding purchaser to the purchaser terminal 10, after the purchaser inputs information on a person who receives the product using the purchaser terminal 10 and then selects the product to be purchased. The password for the purchaser may be inputted in text on a web page or may be automatically generated through a given password- generating button when the product is ordered. Through this, the purchaser can use different passwords every time when he or she orders a product. The authentication database server 30 is interlocked with the electronic commerce server 20. The authentication database server 30 has delivery information provided from the electronic commerce server 20 and unique information on the delivery person provided from a corresponding delivery company registered thereon. Further, information on the purchaser recognition number transmitted from the electronic commerce server 20, i.e., unique number information having a telephone number of a purchaser to code information on the purchased product, a number through which a delivery place or a purchaser can be identified, password information assigned to the purchaser, and information on the delivery company that assigns the delivery company, may be stored in given databases.
The operation of the system according to the present invention will now be described.
First, a purchaser accesses a web page provided by the electronic commerce server 20 via the purchaser terminal 10 and then inputs information on a product to be purchased and information on the purchaser. At this time, information on the purchaser may include given personal information, i.e., information on a telephone number, a place where the product will be delivered, a recipient name, etc. Further, purchase information on the product may include a code on an ordered product for product purchase, information on purchase confirmation, etc. After information on the purchaser is inputted, the purchaser receives password information that is randomly generated based on the password-generating module provided on the web page. Those skilled in the art will appreciate that the password may be automatically generated simultaneously when information on the purchaser is inputted.
The electronic commerce server 20 receives information on the purchaser and purchase information on the product from the purchaser terminal 10 and then generates information on the purchaser recognition number containing information on the purchaser and purchase information on the product according to a given protocol. In the above, the electronic commerce server 20 controls the password- generating module to generate password information and then transmit it to the purchaser terminal 10.
Furthermore, the electronic commerce server 20 provides the authentication database server 30 with information on the purchaser recognition number, information on the delivery company and password information. The server 20 also provides delivery information depending on a request for the delivery to the delivery company server 50 corresponding to information on the delivery company. Next, the delivery company assigns a corresponding delivery person at the request of the delivery from the electronic commerce server 20 and then transmits unique information on the delivery person containing a terminal number, etc. that is held by the delivery person to the authentication database server 30 through the delivery company server 50 held by the delivery company. In addition, the delivery company server 50 has delivery information, i.e., product information, information on a place where the product will be delivered, information on a telephone number of the purchaser, etc. downloaded onto the terminal of the delivery person.
Meanwhile, it will be described in the following description that delivery information is downloaded onto the terminal of the delivery person. However, it should be noted that in order for the purchaser to easily authenticate the delivery person, delivery information and password information assigned to the purchaser may be simultaneously downloaded onto the terminal of the delivery person, and password information stored at the terminal of the delivery person and password information assigned to the purchaser terminal 10 may be then compared upon delivery of the product. In the present invention, however, not only mutual authentication between the purchaser and the delivery person is used but also authentication of the delivery person is firstly performed in the authentication database company, thus increasing stability and completeness of the system. Due to this, it is preferred that password information provided to the terminal of the delivery person is provided by the authentication database server 30.
Therefore, the authentication database server 30 has stored in information on the delivery company and information on the terminal that will be used by a delivery person who belongs to a corresponding delivery company. Further, information on the purchaser recognition number transmitted from the electronic commerce server 20, password information assigned to a corresponding purchaser terminal 10 and information on the delivery company are stored in the authentication database server 30.
Thereafter, the delivery person who is authenticated to deliver the product by the delivery company delivers the product with a corresponding terminal carried. The delivery person goes to a corresponding delivery place based on information on a delivery place and a recipient provided from the delivery company and uses the terminal of the delivery person to access the authentication database server 30.
The connection system 40 of the terminal of the delivery person and the authentication database server 30 may be connected in different ways depending on terminals used by delivers. In the case where a delivery person uses a terminal of a common cell phone shape, the delivery person may call a specified telephone number and be connected to ARS via a corresponding electronic commerce station. Therefore, caller ID (hereinafter referred to as "CID") of the terminal that is being used by the delivery person is transmitted to the authentication database server 30 via the communication station. The authentication database server 30 searches/determines a corresponding CID and then transmits guide information corresponding to the search result to the terminal of the delivery person.
Meanwhile, in the event that the delivery person uses a PDA or a terminal that allows wireless Internet, information on the terminal of the delivery person that is inputted through the network via a corresponding communication network is provided to the authentication database server 30. The authentication database server 30 searches/determines information on the terminal of the delivery person and then transmits guide information corresponding to the result to the terminal of the delivery person.
In other words, the authentication database server 30 determines whether or not a terminal number of the delivery person is registered based on unique information on the delivery person that is previously stored. If the terminal number of the delivery person is not a registered number, the authentication database server 30 issues an error message. If the terminal number of the delivery person is a registered one, the authentication database server 30 sends a message to the terminal of the delivery person, which prompts the entry of purchaser recognition information. At this time, purchaser recognition information may be inputted to the terminal of the delivery person by the delivery company server 50, or purchaser recognition number may be inputted to the terminal of the delivery person by a manager of the delivery company.
After purchaser recognition information is inputted to the terminal of the delivery person, the authentication database server 30 searches a corresponding delivery company from delivery companies that are previously stored based on CID information. The authentication database server 30 then patches information on the delivery company depending on the search result and determines whether purchaser recognition information inputted from the terminal' of the delivery person exists or not.
As a result of the determination by the authentication database server 30, if it is determined that purchaser recognition information inputted from the terminal of the delivery person exists with it relating to information on the delivery company, the authentication database server 30 transmits password information on the purchaser to the terminal of the delivery person. At this time, the authentication database server 30 generates/stores a connection basis relating to purchaser recognition information, unique information on the delivery person and password information, and transmits it to a corresponding electronic commerce at the same time.
FIG. 2 is a flowchart illustrating the process steps for embodying the method for authenticating the delivery person according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention. Referring to FIG. 2, in step S100, information on terminals of corresponding delivery persons for delivery companies is stored in the authentication database server 30 based on information on the delivery companies and unique information on the delivery persons. In the above, additionally storing information on the delivery companies allows not a password of the same purchaser that is requested relating to the delivery of a product by other delivery company to be searched but only password information on the product of the purchaser that is received to a delivery company to which the delivery person belongs to be searched, when a delivery person of a specific delivery company accesses the authentication database server 30, in such a manner that only purchaser recognition information relating to information on the delivery company to which a corresponding delivery person belongs and password information on the corresponding purchaser are searched since the purchaser's product is delivered via a delivery company specified by electronic commerce . In step S110, purchaser recognition information and password information on a corresponding purchaser that are transmitted from the electronic commerce server 20, and information on the delivery company that will deliver a corresponding product of the order, are stored in the authentication database server 30. If the delivery of a corresponding product is completed (time point when the delivery person searches a password of a corresponding purchaser is considered as a behavior for the delivery and is computationally processed as completion of the delivery) , purchaser recognition information is deleted by a method of transferring its location and is kept as a basis information data for which the purchaser accesses to search a password of the corresponding purchaser.
In step S120, the delivery person accesses the authentication database server 30. The delivery person performs the connection by means of a method of calling a specified telephone number using his or her cell phone and accesses an ARS device via a corresponding communication station, to a method of using a PDA or a portable terminal that allows wireless Internet to access the ARS device via a corresponding communication company.
In step S130, the authentication database server 30 extracts CID information from the terminal of the delivery person to determine whether or not there exists information identical to a CID to which a corresponding delivery person is connected of information on the delivery persons that are registered in the authentication database server 30 or which delivery company a corresponding delivery person is belonging to. It is determined in step S140 whether or not information identical to the CID and the delivery company of the corresponding delivery person match.
As a result of the determination in step S140, if it is determined that CID information of the terminal of the delivery person is not registered in the authentication database server 30, an error message is issued (S150) . At this time, if the terminal of the delivery person has accessed the ARS device, the ARS device transmits a comment of the error message corresponding to a data value outputted from the authentication database server 30 to the terminal of the delivery person. In the mean time, if the delivery person accessed the ARS device using a terminal such as a PDA that allows wireless Internet, - the authentication database server 30 transmits a character message data for the error.
Meanwhile, if it is determined that CID information of the terminal of the delivery person is registered in the authentication database server 30 in step S140, the process proceeds to step SI 60 in which the delivery person requests the authentication database server 30 to input purchaser recognition information into his or her terminal. The request of inputting purchaser recognition information allows a guide comment that is specified to the delivery person by the ARS device to be transmitted, when the delivery person is accessed through the ARS device, and allows request information that requests the entry of purchaser recognition information to be transmitted, when the delivery person is accessed through the PDA or the terminal that allows wireless Internet.
In step S170, the delivery person inputs corresponding information according to the request that the delivery person input purchaser recognition information. It is then determined that a constitutional format of information inputted from the delivery person is normal (step S180) . In more detail, it is determined whether the delivery person inputs information within a certain time period and the constitutional element of information inputted by the delivery person is correct. As a result of the determination, if the delivery person did input information within a certain time period or the constitutional element of information is not correct, an error message is outputted to the delivery person (step S190) .
At this time, in the case where the delivery person is accessed through ARS, an error message is outputted via ARS depending on whether the delivery person inputs purchaser recognition information within a certain time period. Meanwhile, if the delivery person is accessed through the PDA or wireless Internet using his or her terminal, the authentication database server 30 determines it and transmits a corresponding message.
Meanwhile, if corresponding information was correctly inputted from the terminal of the delivery person, the authentication database server 30 searches purchaser recognition information (S200) . It is determined whether purchaser recognition information exists in the authentication database server 30. The reason why only purchaser recognition information relating to information on the delivery company to which a corresponding delivery person belongs is searched, is that it is preferred to search whether purchaser recognition information relating to the delivery company to which the delivery person belongs exists when the same purchaser orders products from several electronic commerce companies and the ordered products are delivered through different delivery companies. As a result of the determination in step S200, if purchaser recognition information relation to the delivery company does not exist, the authentication database server 30 outputs an error message corresponding thereto (step S210) . As described above, the authentication database server 30 outputs the error message based on the communication connection mode depending on the terminal of the delivery person.
Meanwhile, as a result of the determination in step S200, if there exists purchaser recognition information relating to the delivery company, i.e., if purchaser recognition information inputted by a corresponding delivery person exists in the authentication database server 30 with it relating to information on the delivery company to which a corresponding delivery person belongs, the authentication database server 30 provides password information to the terminal of the delivery person (step S220) . At this time, if the terminal of the delivery person is accessed to the ARS device, the ARS device provides a data value for password information provided by the authentication database server 30 as audio information that is audible to the delivery person. If the terminal of the delivery person is a terminal that allows wireless Internet such as a PDA, the authentication database server 30 transmits password information data for the purchaser to the delivery person via the network.
Thereafter, in step S230, the authentication database server 30 relays time information when a corresponding delivery person receives the password for the purchaser including information on the delivery person (including information on the delivery company to which the delivery person belongs), purchaser recognition information and password information on the purchaser and generates/stores it as a delivery basis data. The delivery basis data is then provided to the electronic commerce server 20 of a corresponding electronic commerce company.
The delivery person performs mutual authentication by exchanging password information with a recipient through purchaser recognition information and password information that are transmitted to the terminal of the delivery person when visiting home for the delivery of the product. At this time, when the purchaser resides in an apartment, transmission and reception of the password can be made in an apartment management room.
Industrial Applicability
As described above, according to the system and method for authenticating the delivery person, when a purchaser orders a product through electronic commerce, unique password information for the purchaser only is set. When the product is delivered, authentication of the delivery person is performed on the delivery person' side based on password information set by the purchaser. Therefore, the present invention has new effects that it can not only reduce a psychological burden to determine whether or not a visitor is a legitimate delivery person but also prevent a crime since there is no possibility that he or she may be duped by a robber disguising as the delivery person.
Further, the present invention can reduce unnecessary psychological nervousness of a delivery person who must make a purchaser understood that he or she is a legitimate delivery person when visiting the purchaser's home. Also, an electronic commerce company guarantees the identity of a person who delivers a product that the company relays. It is thus possible to give a feeling of confidence to the customers and protect the customers.
While the present invention has been described with reference to the particular illustrative embodiments, it is not to be restricted by the embodiments but only by the appended claims. It is to be appreciated that those skilled in the art can change or modify the embodiments without departing from the scope and spirit of the present invention.
