Abstract

The invention relates to an electric circuit (10) for controlling an electromagnetic load (11). The electric circuit (10) is provided with a series connection consisting of the electromagnetic load (11) and of a first switch (12), and with a parallel connection, which is configured as a freewheeling circuit while consisting of the electromagnetic load (11) and of a second switch (13). In addition, the electric circuit (10) is provided with a controller (16) for controlling the first switch (12) and the second switch (13). The second switch (13) consists of a transistor (14), which conducts in the direction of the freewheeling circuit, and of a diode (15), which is connected in parallel to the transistor (14) in the direction of the freewheeling circuit. The controller (16) switches the transistor (14) on when the voltage on the diode (15) is less than 0 volts in the non-conducting direction.
