Abstract

An array waveguide type wavelength branching filter having a flat transparency region and a low transparency loss. In order to achieve the aforementioned object, the array waveguide type wavelength branching filter includes at least one single mode type input channel waveguide on a waveguide substrate, an input slab waveguide, a channel waveguide array consisting of a plurality of single mode type waveguides having a predetermined waveguide length difference, an output slab waveguide, and a multi-mode type output channel waveguide which are successively connected in the longitudinal direction.
