Abstract

A method for damping stick-slip vibrations in an object, located against a slide path continuously moving along an axis (x), is disclosed. The object forms an oscillator driven by friction with the slide path and is pressed against the slide path by means of a normal force. A friction characteristic is generated between the object and the slide path, having a falling curve for the coefficient of friction with relative speed between the object and the slide path. The object is subjected to a variable force, overlaying the normal force, which has the same frequency as the vibrational movement of the object and which is phase-shifted relative to the vibrational movement of the object.
