Abstract

A system, method, and apparatus for transmitting packet data over a wireless network to a mobile station is presented herein (fig 1). Packet data are received at a wireless content switch that is part of the wireless data network (fig 1a). The wireless content switch is equipped to detect lost packets, lost acknowledgments, and take appropriate remedial action, without invoking the congestion control and avoidance mechanisms of the transmission control protocol.
