Abstract

L'invention concerne un dispositif de contrôle de la polarisation d'un signal véhiculé sous la forme d'un faisceau lumineux. Selon l'invention, ce dispositif comprend: -une cellule constituée de deux plaques de substrat essentiellement parallèles entre elles et entre lesquelles est confiné un contenu comprenant un polymère dans lequel sont dispersées des gouttelettes de cristal liquide; -des moyens d'application, ô au moins une partie du contenu de la cellule, d'un champ électrique sensiblement perpendiculaire ô la direction de propagation du faisceau lumineux,de façon que, selon que le champ électrique est appliqué ou non, au moins une partie du contenu de la cellule constitue un milieu biréfringent ou isotrope respectivement.
