XECHNICALEIELD
The present invention relates to an automatic fodder supplying apparatus for supplying fodder to domestic animals including pets and particularly, to an automatic fodder supplying apparatus for supplying proper amount of fodder to a number of domestic animals in many ways.
BACKGRQUND-ARX Generally, when various kinds of domestic animals including pets such as pet dogs are fed, fodder is supplied manually. However, if the fodder is supplied manually one by one, there occurs an inconvenience for animal feeders and the domestic animals can not be supplied with the fodder at the proper time in case the feeder must go out. Because of such difficulties in feeding animals, an automatic fodder supplying apparatus for automatically supplying fodder and water to domestic animals was developed and has been commonly supplied.
In a type of the automatic fodder supplying apparatus, fodder is automatically discharged by rotation of a feeding screw and filled in the fodder supply box by installing a feeding screw at the lower portion of a fixed amount supply part and periodically rotating the feeding screw with a rotational force of a retarding motor. In such type of automatic fodder supplying apparatus, manufacturing of the feeding screw requires a very minute operation and accordingly, it is hard to manufacture the apparatus. Also, the supply amount of fodder is determined by the rotation number of the feeding screw, but it is difficult to supply proper amount of fodder in case the kind of the fodder is changed.
In supplying fodder which is varied in shapes, such as a powder type, particle type, cookie type, bone type and the like and in sizes classified by its kind or compositively, the fodder is broken according to rotation of the feeding screw and accordingly, the shape of fodder can not be maintained. In case a fodder made of bones and the like is held between the outer circumferential surface of the screw and inner circumferential surface of a cylinder, thus to hinder rotation of the screw and further disable the operation of the apparatus seriously.
Therefore, to solve the above problem, the present applicant invented the automatic fodder supplying apparatus and made an application of the apparatus to the Korea Patent Office (Patent No; 1999- 42094) and the invention was disclosed as the publication number 2001- 29329 (Publication Date; April 6. 2001 ) in the Patent laid open publication. The automatic fodder supplying apparatus which is the previous invention of the present applicant will be described with reference to Figures 1 and 2. A fodder storage part 2 for supplying fodder by filling it, is positioned at the upper side of a fodder supply box 1. At the inner center of the fodder supply box 1 , a fixed amount supply part 3 is positioned at a shaft 3A rotatably, thus to be rotated by a driving device 4.
A filled portion 3B in which predetermined amount of fodder is stored is formed in the fixed amount supply part 3. The filled portion can be used by combining fixed amount parts 5 with different sizes and fixed amount parts 5 with many different sizes can be combined and used according to the kind of the animal and the condition to feed the animal. For sure, the fodder can be directly filled in the filled portion 3B of the fixed amount supply part 3 and poured.
Also, a discharge chute 6 is positioned at the inner lower side of the fodder supply box 1 to guide the fodder which is poured from the filled portion 3B by the rotation of the fixed amount supply part 3 and a discharge opening 7 for discharging fodder is formed at the lower portion of the front plate of the fodder supply box 1.
A first moving frame 8 which is moved in a drawer type is combined to the bottom portion of the fodder supply box 1 and a fodder part 10 for filling the fodder discharged from the discharge opening 7, is put on the first moving frame 8. On the other hand, a lid 21 is combined to the upper portion of the fodder supply box 1.
The driving device 4 is installed on the outer wall of the fodder supply box 1 and uses a retarding motor 4A to which a shaft 3A of the fixed amount supply part 3 is combined. The rotation number of the fixed amount supply part 3 is sensed by a rotation sensing means 11 and the fixed amount supply part 3 is rotated with a predetermined rotation period by setting time with a timer by a control unit which is positioned at a predetermined portion of the fodder supply box 1. The rotation sensing means 11 is fixed on the outer wall of the fodder supply box 1 so that the micro switch 12 is positioned near the shaft 3A of the fixed amount supply part 3 and an operator 13 for turning on or off the micro switch 12 is fixed to the shaft 3A of the fixed amount supply part 3. Namely, the operator 13 of the rotation sensing means 11 senses rotation when the fixed amount supply part 3 rotates one time, by abutting the contact point of the micro switch 12 and the retarding motor 4A is stopped in the control unit when the contact signal of the micro switch 12 is transmitted to the control unit and rotated at a predetermined time again. On the other hand, a water supply means 15 for supplying water is positioned at a side portion of the fodder supply box 1 and in this water supply means 15, a water supply box 16 is combined with the fodder supply box 1 and a second moving frame 17 is combined to the lower portion of the water supply box 16 movably to the inward and outward directions. A plurality of wheels 17A are combined on the lower surface of the second moving frame 17 to smoothly move the frame and a conventional pushing type valve 20, which is opened when it is abutted and pushed on the lower surface of a water storage unit 17B and closed again when a water bottle 19 is lifted, is combined at the opening portion of the water bottle 19.
In operating the automatic fodder supplying apparatus, firstly, fodder is filled in the fodder storage part 2 of the fodder supply box 1 and period that the fodder is discharged is adjusted by adjusting the timer positioned in
the control unit. Then, the first moving frame 8 is pulled out of the fodder supply box 1 and the fodder part 10 is positioned at the lower portion of the discharge opening 7.
At this time, the fixed amount part 5 which is formed with many different sizes according to the fodder to be supplied is combined to the filled portion 3B of the fixed amount supply part 3 and used.
Then, the retarding motor 4A is operated by the control unit when the time predetermined with the timer is passed. Accordingly, the fixed amount supply part 3 is rotated, the fodder filled in the fixed amount part 5 is poured down and filled in the fodder part 10 which is located at the lower portion, being guided by the discharge chute 6 and discharged through the discharge opening 7.
At this time, when the fixed amount supply part rotates, the operator 13 which is combined with the shaft 3A of the fixed amount supply part 3 is rotated and separated from the micro switch 12. Accordingly, the contact point of the micro switch 12 is separated. When the fixed amount supply part 3 rotates one time by the rotation force of the retarding motor 4A, the operator 13 can sense the rotation of the fixed amount supply part 3 by contacting the contact point of the micro switch 12 again. By the sensing signal, the operation of the retarding motor 4A is controlled. The retarding motor 4A is operated according to the period predetermined by the micro switch 12 and the above supplying operation of fodder is continuously repeated.
For instance, with the automatic fodder supplying apparatus of the previous invention, it can be set that the fixed amount supply part 3 supplies fodder three time at seven, twelve, nineteen respectively in case of automatically supplying the fodder and the fixed amount part 5 can be made by order to three or four sizes for the weights of 20g, 30g, 40g and 50g and used. However, with the automatic fodder supplying apparatus of the previous invention, it was difficult to provide proper amount of fodder to all domestic animals in case of supplying the fodder to many animals in a house.
For instance, in case of raising two pet dogs in a house, even if fodder for two dogs is poured to the fodder part 10, a stronger dog possesses the fodder part exclusively, eats the fodder until it can not eat any more and then gives away the fodder part 10. Therefore, both dogs could not have proper amount of meal and the fodder supplying management is difficult since an animal manager must prevent fighting between the animals in supplying fodder.
Also, with the automatic fodder supplying apparatus of the previous invention, it is difficult to properly adjusting the amount of fodder to be supplied, since the supply amount of fodder is adjusted by the number of rotation of the fixed amount supply part 3. For example, the fodder supply amount could be adjusted by one, two, thee times and the like of the fixed amount supply part 3 and the amount could not adjusted to an amount obtained by multiplying a number which is not a constant and the amount of the fixed amount supply part minutely. Therefore, it was difficult to supply proper amount of fodder. For sure, the previous invention is used by combining fixed amount parts 5 with various sizes according to supply amount to be supplied with a filled portion 3B of the fixed amount supply part 3. However, the cost is increased to have fixed amount parts 5 with different volumes, charging and treating are inconvenient and there is a limitation for adjusting fodder supply amount minutely even if many fixed amount parts 5 are used.

MODE OR CARRY-ING OUXXfclE-BREEERRED-EMBODIMENXS
The present invention will now be described with reference to accompanying drawings. Figures 3 to 6 are views showing an automatic fodder supplying apparatus in accordance with the present invention. Figure 3 is a perspective view showing a fodder supply part which is partially cut. Figure 4 is a longitudinal sectional view showing the fodder supply part along the side direction. Figure 5 is longitudinal sectional view showing a fixed amount supply part including a fodder filled portion. Figure 6 is a partial perspective view showing a supply amount adjusting means which is installed in the fodder filled portion.
With reference to Figure 3, an automatic fodder supplying apparatus in accordance with the present invention includes a fixed amount supply part 100 for pouring fixed amount of fodder, which is rotated by a rotation force of a retarding motor 116 which is installed on the outer wall of the fodder supply box 99 and discharging chutes 200 for guiding fodder poured to two discharge paths so that the fodder is poured from the fixed amount supply part 100 into two directions.
The fixed amount supply part 100 is formed in a cylindrical structure and two filled parts 101 and 102 are formed at both sides centering a central dividing plate 103 to fill and pour the fodder. Also, discharge chutes 210 and 220 for guiding fodder supplied from the both filled parts 101 and 102 respectively to the front and rear directions of the fodder supply box 99, which are opposite directions, are respectively formed at the lower portion of the fixed amount supply part.
Here, the both discharge chutes 210 and 220 are lengthened at the lower side of the fixed amount supply part 100 to the front and rear directions in a twisted structure and the discharge openings 211 and 221 are formed to be positioned at the lower portion in the front and rear directions of the fodder supply box 99 so that two domestic animals can be fed in the opposite directions to each other when the fodder is poured to the front and rear directions of the fodder supply box 99. Namely, in case of raising two pet dogs in a house, if fodder for two dogs is poured to a fodder part, a relatively stronger dog tends to possess the fodder part exclusively. Accordingly, the stronger one overeats and weaker one can not eat properly. Therefore, in case of feeding two or more animals, it was difficult to supply proper amount of meal. However, by having two filling portions 101 and 102 in the fixed amount supply part 100 and installing two discharge chutes 210 and 220 at the lower portion of the fixed amount supply part 100 in the opposite directions, fodder which is filled in the fodder supply box 99 is poured to the front and rear directions of the fodder supply box 99, those are, opposite directions to each other and accordingly, two pet dogs can possess a fodder part at the opposite directions so that the two can not see each other, and eat the fodder. Therefore, stronger and weaker sides can eat the fodder without fighting and accordingly, proper amount of fodder can be conveniently supplied. On the other hand, the embodiment and drawings of the present invention show that two filled portions 101 and 102 are positioned in the fixed amount supply part 100 and two discharge chutes 210 and 220 are installed in the opposite directions to each other. However, three or more filled portions can be positioned in the fixed amount supply part 100 according to the designed condition and necessity, and the discharge chutes and discharge opening is also formed to have three or more discharging paths according to the number of the filled portions. Accordingly, the fodder can be poured being divided to many directions such as front, rear, left, right and the like directions of the fodder supply box 99. At this time, the fodder can be properly supplied for three or more animals.
Also, in the present invention, a supply amount adjusting means is formed to minutely adjust fed fodder amount as a supply amount adjusting plate 110 is combined with both filled portions 101 and 102 of the fixed amount supply part 100 so that it can be adjusted to the upper and lower directions by a height adjusting means 300 shown in Figure 4.
The height adjusting means 300 includes a nut 310 which is fixed at the center of the bottom of both filled portions 101 and 102, and a bolt 320 which is screwed and combined with the nut 310 under the condition that the it is combined to the supply amount adjusting plate 110, capable of performing relative rotation.
Here, as shown in Figure 6, the head part 321 of the bolt 320 is formed to be hooked to the connection hole 113 which is formed at the center of the supply amount adjusting plate 110. A hook groove 322 is formed at the lower portion of the head portion 321 and a hook ring 330 is held on the groove 322. Therefore, the bolt 320 is rotatably combined without being restricted when it is inserted and combined with the supply amount adjusting plate 110. In addition, a slip ring 340 can be combined respectively to the upper and lower portion of the connection hole 113 of the both filled portions 101 and 102 so that the bolt 320 can rotate more smoothly.
In Figure 3, reference numeral 115 designates a fodder storage part positioned at the inner upper side of the fodder supply box 99, for storing fodder. Also, in Figures 3 and 4, reference numeral 114 designates a loss preventing member which is installed at both parts of the fixed amount supply part 100 so that supplied fodder is not caught and inputted well. Reference numeral 114A designates a brush which is made of plastic resin materials, for guiding fodder to be inputted to the filled portion without restricting the fixed amount supply part, when the fixed amount supply part 100 rotates.
As described above, the fixed amount supply part 100 rotates as the rotation number predetermined by the control unit positioned on the front surface of the fodder supply box 99 and when the fixed amount supply part 100 rotates two times, two times of the fodder which can be filled in the both filled portions 101 and 102 is poured into the front and rear discharge chutes 210 and 220. When the fixed amount supply part 100 rotates three times, three times of fodder is poured and accordingly, the discharge amount can be adjusted according ot the rotation number of the fixed amount supply part 100.
Particularly, in the present invention, since the position of the supply amount adjusting plate 110 which is combined to the both filled portions 101 and 102 of the fixed amount supply part 100 can be freely adjusted by. moving it upwards or downwards by the height adjusting means 300, the amount of the fodder which is filled in the both filled portions 101 and 102 according to the height adjustment of the supply amount adjusting plate 110 can be adjusted variously.
For instance, in case of supplying two or three times of the both filled portions 101 and 102, two or three times of fodder can be supplied by adjusting rotation number of the fixed amount supply part 100 and two or three times larger or smaller amount of fodder can be supplied adjusting the amount variously using the height adjusting means 300.
In case of adjusting the supply amount, the lid (not shown) of the fodder supply box 99 is opened and the bolt 32 is rotated using a device such as a driver. Then the position of the supply amount adjusting plate 110 is adjusted to the upper and lower directions according to the rotation direction of the bolt 320, since the bolt 320 is combined with the both supply amount adjusting plates 110 to be rotated idly and combined being screwed to the nut 310 which is fixed to the bottom of the both filled portions 101 and 102.
Therefore, the supply amount can be variously adjusted as much as the preferable amount since the volume of the both filled portions 101 and 102 is adjusted by the height of the supply amount adjusting plate 110 and the supply amount can be more accurately adjusted by adjusting the position watching the graduation 104 formed on the inner surface of the both filled portions 101 and 102.
Also, the supply amount adjusting plate 110 which is combined to the both filled portions 101 and 102 all can be formed as square flat plates. However, a side is formed as a flat plate and the other side can be formed as a curved plate having a curved shape identical as the curved surface of the fixed amount supply part.
When a flat supply amount adjusting plate 111 and curved supply amount adjusting plate 112 are combined with the both filled portions 101 and 102, the curved supply amount adjusting plate 112 is raised to the uppermost side to form a same surface as the outer circumferential surface of the fixed amount supply part 100, since it is not necessary to discharge the fodder through the both discharge chutes 210 and 220 in case the number of fed pet dog is changed from two to one. Accordingly, the fodder can be filled and poured using just a filled portion 101.
On the other hand, the height adjusting means 300 was described with an example that two filler portions 101 and 102 are positioned in the fixed amount supply part 100, but the cases that just a filled portion or three or more filled portions are positioned in the fixed amount supply part 100 can be all applied.
With the automatic fodder supplying apparatus described above, in case of feeding two pet dogs, the height of the supply amount adjusting plate 110 is adjusted so that relatively larger amount of fodder is poured to the discharge chute heading facing the front direction and relatively smaller amount of fodder is poured to the discharge chute facing the rear direction and the number of rotation of the fixed amount supply part 100 is set. Then, different amount of fodder is poured into the discharge openings 211 and 221 of the front and rear discharge chutes 210 and 220 even in case the both filled portions 101 and 102 rotate same times and accordingly, two pet dogs can eat proper amount of fodder without fighting.
In case of feeding two or more domestic animals such as pet dogs and the like, preferable number of filled portions formed in the fixed amount supply part 100 can be used. However, in case of feeding a domestic animal, fodder can be poured to just a discharge chute 210 by closing the other filled portion 102 by maximizing the height of the curved supply amount adjusting plate 112 which is combined with the other filled portion
102, thus to properly adjust the fodder supply amount according to the number of the fed animals.
INDU XRIA ARRLICABILIXY
With the automatic fodder supplying apparatus described above, the composition is very simple, manufacturing is easy and it can be used stably without a trouble for a long time, since fodder filled in the filled portion of the fixed amount supply part is poured by rotating the fixed amount supply part with the retarding motor. Particularly, with the present invention, as two or more filled portions are formed in the fixed amount supply part, the discharge opening is positioned opposite to the fodder supply box, and accordingly, two or more animals can eat fodder without fighting.
Therefore, with the present invention, since the supply amount of fodder can be freely adjusted by installing a supply amount adjusting plate in each filled portion, proper amount of fodder can be easily supplied. Also, with the present invention, curved supply amount adjusting plates are installed in at least a filled portion and in case the filled portion is not in use, fodder can be supplied just to a filled portion which is not closed, by closing the filled portion by raising the curved supply amount adjusting plate to the uppermost level. Accordingly, in case of increasing and decreasing the number of animals, fodder can be conveniently supplied. Therefore, with the automatic fodder supplying apparatus in accordance with the present invention, domestic animals including pets can be continuously fed with proper amount of meal everyday without fighting according to the period set with a timer in everyday life, or in case of going out for a long time or a trip, in farms and laboratories, various kinds of fodder can be easily treated, apparatus for various animals or an animal can be conveniently converted and the apparatus of the present invention can be used conveniently and stably for a long time. As the present invention may be embodied in several forms without departing from the spirit or essential characteristics thereof, it should also be understood that the above-described embodiments are not limited by any of the details of the foregoing description, unless otherwise specified, but rather should be construed broadly within its spirit and scope as defined in the appended claims, and therefore all changes and modifications that fall within the metes and bounds of the claims, or equivalence of such metes and bounds are therefore intended to be embraced by the appended claims.
