Abstract

The illuminated sign for cars, with embodiments intended for mounting on car rear and side windows or on car outer surfaces or roof. The sign panel, on which the message letters are applied, may be produced of transparent foil, semi-transparent mesh, non-transparent rigid non-perforated material, or non-transparent rigid perforated material. The panel (1) is applied message letters (2) made of fluorescent paints or cut of fluorescent foil and affixed to the panel or as fluorescent plugs that are inserted in the panel perforations. The message is illuminated by ultraviolet rays (5) emitted by the fluorescent tube (3), mounted in front of the letters and connected through the power transformer (7) to the car (A) DC power source (17). The fluorescent tube (3) is switched on by the switch (10) by pressing the break pedal or by switching the turn indicator switch (12), so that the sign is illuminated simultaneously with the stop lights (11) or turn indicators (13). This further enhances the traffic safety. Switching the light source (3) on and off can be regulated by the timer (16), especially while the car is parked.

Description

ILLUMINATED SIGN FOR CARS
INNENTION DESCRIPTION
1. FIELD OF APPLICATION
The invention relates to illuminated sign consisting of a panel with fluorescent letters illuminated by ultraviolet light. It is mounted on car rear or side windows or on car outer side surfaces or roof.
In the International Patent Classification, the patent belongs to the field G 09 F 13/00, Illuminated signs; Luminous advertising.
2. TECHNICAL PROBLEM
The invention solves the technical problem of how to produce an illuminated sign, displaying effective messages made of fluorescent letters on panel of the device that is to be mounted on car rear or side windows or on care outer side surfaces or roof, illuminated by ultraviolet rays coming from fluorescent tubes switched on and off by pressing the break pedal or by activating the turn indicator, or for a period of time by a timer while the car is parked.
Switching the device on jointly with stop lights or turn indicator additionally warns the vehicle behind or in front about breaking or turning, which enhances the traffic safety.
3. STATE OF THE ART
Presently, advertising signs are made by painting or letters are cut of self-adhesive foil and affixed on the outer surfaces of the car. There are advertising devices intended for fixing on car roof and switched on at night when the car moves or stands still. Such signs are static and do not enhance the traffic safety. 4. DISCLOSURE OF THE INVENTION
The invention relates to illuminated sign mounted at inner side of the car rear or side windows, or at car outer side surfaces or roof. The panel is made of transparent foil, or semi-transparent sun-protective mesh, or of rigid non-transparent perforated or non- perforated material. The letters are made on the transparent foil, semi-transparent mesh and rigid non-transparent material without openings by means of fluorescent paints or cut of fluorescent foils and are affixed on such panels. On rigid non-transparent perforated panels, letters are affixed as various plugs made of fluorescent materials in various colours. The panel is illuminated by light emitted from a fluorescent tube connected via power transformer to the car DC power source.
The illuminated sign intended for fixing on car roof is made of rigid non-transparent material, with the message on one or both sides.
Fluorescent tubes are switched on by pressing the break pedal or the turn indicator switch, and are activated simultaneously with stop lights or turn indicators. While the car is parked, the panel can be illuminated by connecting the fluorescent tube to the power source through power transformer and a timer. The timer regulates the panel illumination timing.
5. ILLUSTRATION DESCRIPTIONS

Figure 2 shows side-view of the illuminated sign for car roof.
Figure 3 shows front- view of the illuminated sign with plugs.
Figure 4 shows the illuminated sign panel, cross section A-A in Figure 3.
Figure 5 shows an example of fitting the illuminated car on a passenger car.
6. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION EMBODIMENTS
With regard to the sort of panel, the illuminated sign for cars, according to the invention, may be embodied in four ways: • illuminated sign with panel made of transparent foil, message letters being made of fluorescent paint or cut of self-adhesive fluorescent foil in various colours and affixed;
• illuminated sign with panel made of semi-transparent mesh, message letters being made of fluorescent paint or cut of self-adhesive fluorescent foil in various colours and affixed;
• illuminated sign with panel made of rigid non-perforated material, message letters being made of fluorescent paint or cut of self-adhesive fluorescent foil in various colours and affixed;
• illuminated sign with panel made of rigid perforated material, the message being made of fluorescent plugs of various colours, inserted into the perforations (Figure 4).
The illuminated sign panel shape is arbitrary and depends on whether it is to be mounted on the car rear or side windows or at the car outer surfaces. The panel is illuminated by fluorescent tube that emits ultraviolet rays, mounted in front of the letters. Under ultraviolet rays, the sign becomes very effectively illuminated. The fluorescent tube is connected to a car DC power source (24 N battery).
The fluorescent tube is switched on and activated simultaneously with the stop lights when the break pedal is pressed, or simultaneously with the turn indicators by switching the adequate switch. This way, it additionally warns other vehicles about breaking or turning, enhancing thereby the traffic safety. While the car is parked, the tube can be switched on by a special switch, through a timer, adjusting thereby the automatic switch on and off timing.
As shown in the electric diagram in Figure 1, the illuminated sign for cars consists of the panel 1, Figures 1, 2, 3 and 4, with fluorescent letters 2, fluorescent tube 3 in the carrier 4, emitting ultraviolet light 5, its rays falling to the panel 1, the power transformer 7, timer 16, switch 15, fuse 14, and connecting cables 6, 8 and 9. The fluorescent tube 3 is connected to the battery 17 through the power transformer 7 that transforms the low voltage of the battery into the high voltage required for powering the fluorescent tube. The transformer 7 is connected by the cable 9 with the switch 10, to which the stop lights 11 are connected, too. When the break pedal is pressed, electricity from the battery 17 runs through the switch 10 simultaneously to the stop lights 11 and through the power transformer 7 to the fluorescent tube 3 which illuminates the sign letters 2 on the panel 1. The power transformer 7 is also connected by the cable 8 to the switch 12 that connects the turn indicators 13 to the battery 17. This way, when the switch 12 is switched on, the sign panel 1 is activated simultaneously with the turn indicators 13.
Panel 1 that is mounted with the frame 18 to car A outer surfaces (in Figure 5, for instance, on the roof B), below the panel there is mounted fluorescent tube 3 housed in the special, hermetically sealed housing 19 with transparent cover 20, as in Figure 2, protecting the fluorescent tube from water.
The panel 1 can be mounted inside the car rear or side windows in several known ways. When the fluorescent tube 3 is connected directly to the power source 17 through the power transformer 7, timer 16 and switch 15, the fluorescent tube automatic switch on and off timing can be programmed by the timer, especially while the car is parked.
7. INVENTION APPLICATION
The invention enables a practical, durable and very efficient illuminated sign for cars, that can be produced economically and that means a significant improvement as compared to known ways of advertising on car bodies.
Experts will find it self-evident that the illuminated sign for cars, according to this invention, can be modified yet maintaining the invention scope and spirit.
