Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif améliorés permettant de traiter la fibrillation auriculaire, ou d'inhiber ou réduire la resténose consécutive à une angioplastie ou à la pose d'un stent. Un cathéter à ballonnet est placé dans la zone traitée ou ouverte par angioplastie à ballonnet immédiatement après l'angioplastie. Le ballonnet, qui peut posséder une structure à ballonnet double, peut être amené à travers un cathéter guide et sur un fil-guide déjà en place. Un fluide tel que le perfluocarbone s'écoule dans le ballonnet pour refroidir le tissu adjacent au ballonnet. Ce refroidissement entraîne la réduction de la resténose. Un cathéter semblable peut être utilisé pour réduire la fibrillation auriculaire par introduction et gonflement du ballonnet de sorte qu'une surface extérieure du ballonnet soit en contact au moins avec une partie de la circonférence de la section de la veine pulmonaire adjacente à l'oreillette gauche. Dans n'importe quel mode de réalisation, le fluide actif peut subir un dégazage, et éventuellement un regazage, avant utilisation. Un capteur optique peut être utilisé pour détecter la présence de gaz dissous dans le fluide actif.
