Abstract

In a method and apparatus for measuring the flexibility of woven wire-cloth, a sheet (18) to be tested (of known warp/weft count and wire diameter) is clamped to the surface of a board (12) by a flat plate or bar (20) by screwing down wing nuts (22, 24). A second flat bar (26) is similarly mounted by two studs on which wing nuts (28, 30) are screwed Springs are fitted on the studs to hold the bar off the board by a gap arranged to be just greater than the wire cloth thickness so that the latter extends below bar (26) with clearance. A graduated scale (32) is carried by the external face of bar (26) and a clamp (34) is secured to the upper left hand corner of the sheet from which a wire (36) extends downwardly over a pulley (38) to a weight carrier (40) with weight (42). The distance moved by the upper corner under the force of the weight, as measured against the scale, yields a value for the flexibility.
