Abstract

An apparatus for measuring the shape of an article without requiring positional alignment of the article, characterized comprising a length measuring means comprising a mounting table for placing an article to be measured, a moving body reciprocating linearly along one side of the mounting table, and a sensor disposed on the moving body, means for picking up the image of the article, and means for operating the width, depth and height dimensions of the article using the length measurement data from the length measuring means and image data picked up by the image pickup means.
