Abstract

One embodiment of a tamper-proof tie (11) includes a head (13) and an attached strap (15). The head (13) includes a strap accepting channel (30) includes a strap entry (32) and a strap exit end (33). The head cavity (31) includes an open end (34). The head (13) includes a flexible locking member (49) comprising first and second ends (51) (53) which are fixed in comprises a finger (77) and a projection (79). In use, the strap (15) is inserted into the strap accepting channel (30) so the tie (11) forms a closed loop. As the strap (15) is inserted into the head (3) the locking member (49) engages the anti-tampering device (75) to prevent withdrawal of the strap (15) from the head (13). With the tie (11) formed into a closed loop, the anti-tampering device (75) substantially encloses the entry end (32) and the exit end (33) of the strap (15) accepting channel (30) and the open end (34) of the blind cavity (31).
