Description
TILTING MECHANISM WITH ANTIFRICTION ELEMENTS FOR ALUMINIUM DOORS AND WINDOWS
The present invention relates to a mechanism for installation in door and window frames , said mechanism facilitating and securing door and window opening in an inclined position having also quick insertion-removal and antifriction systems. The conventional door and window inclination mechanisms, as it is Known to the skilled , are fixed within a slideway provided in the door or window frame where parts an pieces constituting said "inclination mechanism move slidewise and their construction and function is based on the same princi- pie , this being particularly applicable to those inclination mechanisms fixed in door and window frames of standard slide- way dimensions .
Consequently , up today the technology related to construction of inclination mechanisms for aluminium doors and windows is restricted , as mentioned above , in the production of such mechanisms which during their operation move slidewise within a slideway and this results to serious disadvantages such as friction creation , due to existance of high coefficient of friction , because of the metal-to-metal contact, noise creation due to compulsory allowance for facilitation of movement of the parts and pieces constituting the inclination mechanism within the door or window slideway with . this extending to opening-closing difficulty during use of door or window, with- the^mos seτcioύs;:disadvantatje:i being the fixing of iclination mechanism within the door or window frame slideway which is very tiring and requires lots of time to be spent .
Various efforts have been made to eliminate disadvantages mentioned above by addition of either metal or pla- stic spring plates on only one of the vertical sides- of sliding latch. Such an addition is described , for exapml-e in German Patent No. DE 34 41 389 Al which is concerned with fixing of one spring plate at the top and one spring plate at the botton of only one vertical side of the sliding la-
tch . This arrangement gives solution to only one of the aforementioned disadvantages i.e. the one of noise creation during use and in no way it eliminates the rest of them , hich in the case of friction becomes more intense , for the reason that the metal-to-metal contact of the opposite side of the sliding latch
slideway surface not only continues to exist but on the contrary friction is increased due to the force applied by the two spring plates fixed o the other side of sliding latch . Conclusively , all sliding latches bearingftnetal or plastic springs either on one vertical side or on both vertical sides in a diagonal way ,possess the disadvantages mentioned above a d in addition , generally speaking there is no inclination mechanism bearing a central quick insertion-removal sy- stem providing quick and easy access to the inclination mechanism itself .
Therefore , the objectives of the invention are to provide an aluminium door or window inclination mechanism eliminating all disadvantages of prior art by responding perfectly to its requirements of use and also less expensive- o install and maintain , with this being achieved by a central quick' insertion-removal system which allows easy access to the inclination mechanism for fixing , installing and repairing reasons., thus reducing working time and consequently costs of maintai- nance .
The various features and advantages, of the invention will be more fully apparent to those skilled in the art from the following description refering to one particular and in no way limiting embodiment , with .referenced to the accompanying drawings in which ':-
FIG. 1 is a general view of the inclination mechanism of the invention .
FIG 2 is a front view of the central quick insertion-removal system of the invention , and FIG 2 is a front view of the latch of inclination mechanism bearing antifriction means.
Specifically , the aluminium door and window mechanism of the invention is provided with an additional central part (1) , bearing holes (7) on both its ends and a lock housing (3) at the center . Said central part (1) is placed at the point of door or window frame where the lock is housed and is fastened with the other parts constituting the inclination mechanism with the help of screws (2) through the holes (7) and (8) . Unscrewing the screws (2) said part (1) may be.'.removed , releasing thus' the inclination:-.mechanism in no time for any kind of intervention , easily and without any particular effort .
The sliding latch (4) bears two corresponding seats (6) on both its vertical sides , here plastic spring plates (5). are fixed . Said plastic spring plates (5) serve as anti- friction means eliminating both the prior art friction and noise disadvantages, for the reasons that in this case there is total elimination of compulsory allowances for the smooth movement of the latch within the slideway with.1 said latch sliding without making the least of noise during use on one hand and the dramatic reduction of the coefficient of friction due to the plastic spring plates (5) coming in contact with the metal slideway having thus plastic-to-metal contact and not metal-to-metal contact on the other .
At this point should be mentioned that the central part (l),as well as the sliding latch are made of either za ak or aluminium , the screws (2) are made of either stainless steel or copper , whereas plastic antifriction means are made of a?pi>astic material known in commerce with the name of NYLON 6 , without this meaning that said components could not be made of any other suitable material available.
