Abstract

The knob (1) according to the invention, comprises a handle (2), a recess (3) and one or more squeezing components (4) made of elastic, particularly of silicone based material in order to realize the mounting of the knob (1) to the shaft (6).

Description

DOMESTIC APPLIANCE KNOB
The present invention relates to a knob used in household appliances.
In the state of art, various techniques are employed to attach the knob onto the shaft provided on the panel of the appliance.
A known embodiment has been disclosed in the document DE 3911413, wherein a leaf spring is placed in the shaft recess to facilitate its detachable mounting. However the leaf spring used in this embodiment, is deformed by the time or is oxidized by the effect of the detergents and water during the cleaning of the knob.
The object of the present invention is to enable an easily detachable attachment of the knob to the panel and to increase its service life.
The knob realized to attain said objective of the present invention has been illustrated in the attached drawings, wherein:
Figure 1, shows the cross sectional view of the knob and the shaft.
Figure 2a, shows the bottom view of the knob with a recess that is partially coated with elastic material;
Figure 2b, shows the bottom view of the knob with a recess that is completely coated with elastic material;
Figure 3a, shows the elevational section view of the knob;
Figure 3b, shows the cross section view of the knob from the bottom. The components shown in the drawings are separately numerated as follows

The knob (1) according to the invention, comprises a handle (2), a recess (3) and one or more squeezing component (4) made of elastic based material, that are placed into the recess (3) durmg the plastic injection of the knob (1). In a preferred embodiment, said squeezing component (4) is made of silicone material, hi another embodiment of the present invention, said squeezing component (4) is made of thermoplastic or thermoset elastomeric material, such as rubber.
The knob (1) is attached onto a shaft (6) located on a panel (5) on the domestic appliance, in such a manner that the shaft (6) is accommodated in the recess (3) provided on said knob (1).
The squeezing component (4) which is manufactured separately from the knob (1), is partially or entirely mounted around a core piece placed in the recess (3) during the production of the knob (1) by a plastic injection method and it is securely placed in the knob (1) upon the completion of its plastic injection.
The silicone based squeezing component (4) that is so placed that it will cover the inner wall of the recess (3) partially or entirely, is further compressed by the shaft in order to realize the mounting of the knob (1) to the shaft (6). To detach the knob (1) from the panel (5), a pulling force is applied on the handle (2), to overcome the factional force between the silicone based squeezmg component (4) and the shaft (6), whereby, the knob (1) is separated from the panel (5).
The squeezing component (4) according to the present invention is not effected by the detergents nor by water, therefore its sendee life is elongated and thus the knob (1) may be attached and detached from the shaft (6) repetitively. Furthermore, as said squeezing component (4) is made of an elastic based material which has a lower cost than that of metal, an advantage from the economical pohit of view is also provided.

Claims

1. A knob (1) comprising a handle (2) and a recess (3), characterized with a squeezing component (4) made of elastic material, that is so arranged that it covers the inner wall of the recess (3) partially or entirely.
2. A knob (1) as defined in Claim 1, characterized with the squeezing component (4) made of silicone based material.
3. A knob (1) as defined in Claim 1, characterized with the squeezmg component (4) made of silicone thermoplastic or thermoset elastomeric based material.
