Abstract
The headrest bracket as provided by the present invention consists of a tube (1) equipped at one end with a cover with positioning notches (3) and at the other end with a cover (4) for mounting in the back-rest or the headrest cushion. The ends (2) of the tube (1) where the covers (3) and (4) are fixed have decreased lateral dimensions compared to the lateral dimension of the tube (1) and are equipped with catches for secure connection with the covers (3) and (4). In its second embodiment the ends (2") constitute parts of a rod (5) placed inside the tube (1).
Description
Headrest bracket
The present invention refers to an automotive vehicle headrest bracket. There are headrest brackets that are popularly known whose task is to mount the headrest cushion in the back-rest and enable adjustment of the cushion position above the back-rest. Certain strength requirements are set for brackets along with dimensional requirements and requirements relating to their visual appearance. Brackets can be made as steel rods equipped with positioning notches with which the position of the cushion is adjusted. Other brackets are also known that are made of steel tubes, however, making positioning notches in a tube-type material presents itself with technological difficulties. Besides, for safety reasons bracket ends have to be ended with a radius specified by regulatory requirements. The making of such a tube ending also presents itself with manufacturing problems and raises production costs. Another type of brackets is also known where steel rods are coated with a layer of plastic material. Positioning notches are formed in the plastic layer and elements providing secure mounting to the back-rest or the headrest cushion are also formed at the other end. The diameter of the bracket part that is equipped with positioning notches depends on the diameter of the hole in the sleeve with which it is connected while the layer of plastic material has to have a specified thickness so that positioning notches can be made in it. This results in the need to use a rod with a smaller diameter which may fail to provide adequate strength for the bracket. The use of a rod with a larger diameter has the negative effect of increasing the weight of headrest and results in worsened visual appearance caused by the thicker brackets. A heavier headrest causes noise in the car.
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a bracket without the defects of the known solutions that fulfills the applicable requirements in terms of strength, operational safety and visual appearance, and which is cost-effective and easy in manufacturing.
This aim has been achieved by designing a bracket in the form of a tube which at one end is securely fixed to a cover equipped on the outside surface with positioning notches and at the other end is securely fixed to a cover equipped on the outside surface with elements that are mounted in back-rest or headrest cushion. The outer diameter of the whole bracket is preferably uniform. The ends of the tube part where the cover equipped on the outside surface with positioning notches and the cover for mounting are respectively placed have smaller lateral dimensions compared to the outer lateral dimension of the tube and are equipped with
catches enabling secure connection with the cover with positioning notches and the mounting cover.
Preferably the lengths of the cover with positioning notches and the mounting cover are adjusted to the respective dimensions of any connected elements such as a sleeve and mounting seat.
In its second embodiment the bracket is in the form of a tube which at one end is securely fixed to a cover equipped on the outside surface with positioning notches and at the other end is securely fixed to a cover equipped on the outside surface with elements for mounting in the back-rest or in the headrest cushion. The outer diameter of the whole bracket is preferably uniform. The ends where the cover equipped on the outside surface with positioning notches and the mounting cover are respectively placed have smaller lateral dimensions compared to the outer lateral dimension of the tube and are equipped with catches enabling secure connection with the cover with positioning notches and the mounting cover and they are parts of a rod placed inside the tube. The total length of the rod is therefore equal to the length of the tube and both ends.
Preferably the lengths of the cover with positioning notches and the mounting cover are adjusted to the respective dimensions of any connected elements such as a sleeve and mounting seat.
An advantage of the bracket provided by the present invention is that the outside surface of the tube part can be finished to have attractive visual appearance, for example, through electroplating while at the same time in terms of technological processes it is easy to provide the bracket with positioning notches and elements for mounting in the cushion or back-rest as well as with rounded bracket ends that are required by safety regulations. The visual attractiveness is increased by the fact that the part of the headrest that is visible to the user is smooth and has no positioning notches. In the first embodiment the use of a tube lowers the weight of the object while preserving the necessary mechanical strength.
The object of the invention is explained in detail with its embodiment presented in drawing where fig. 1 shows a bracket for secure mounting in the back-rest (local and section view), fig. 2 shows a bracket for secure mounting in the headrest cushion (view and section), fig. 3 shows part of a cover with positioning notches (section) and fig. 4 shows a bracket with a rod inside (section).
The bracket consists of a tube 1 whose ends 2 have decreased lateral dimensions compared to the original lateral dimension of the tube 1 and have profiled catches designed for secure connection: from one end with a cover equipped positioning notches 3 and at the other end with a mounting cover 4. The tube 1 and the ends 2 constitute one unit. The outer diameter of the tube part 1, the outer diameter of the cover equipped with positioning notches 3 and the outer diameter of the working part of the mounting cover 4 are equal.
