Description

ANGULAR CONNECTION DEVICE FOR TUBULAR FRAMES,
PARTICULARLY FRAMES FOR SPORTING USES
TECHNICAL FIELD
The present invention relates to modular tubular structures and in particular to an angular connection device for tubular frame, particularly for frame for sporting uses, for instance tubular frame of doors for football, soccer, handball, hockey, and the like.
BACKGROUND ART
The known connection devices usually provide angular connections between two tubular elements, for instance a stud and a crossbar, by means of connectors or angular joints or other external jointing elements of the two tubular elements.
The connectors or angular joints can be of internal type, that means they can be inserted inside the tubular cavities of studs and crossbars, or can be of external type, for housing the ends of the two elements to be connected.
In case of internal joints, these latter usually are made of metal, since they must guarantee a suitable resistance and solidity, with small dimensions.
Furthermore blocking elements, for instance screws, are needed in order to fix the connection between the angular joints and the tubular elements.
The main drawback of the known devices consists in that they usually include dangerous elements outwards protruding. Other drawback of the known devices consists in that they are usually metallic, thus heavy and subjects to oxidation. Another drawback consists in that they can be disassembled in consequence of collisions or heavy stress, exposing potentially dangerous protruding portions. DISCLOSURE OF THE INVENTION
The main object of the present invention is to propose an angular connection device easy to carry out, including few elements for firmly fixing the ends of the tubular elements.
Other object is to propose a device which can be easily and quickly assembled and disassembled, light and, therefore, easily movable. Further object is to propose a safety device, fit to resist to collisions and stress and not including dangerous elements, such as protruding elements. Other object is to propose a device fit to guarantee a suitable blocking even after several disassembling and assembling cycles.
The above-mentioned object are achieved according to the content of the claims.

BEST MODE OF CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
With reference to figures 1A-3B, numeral 1 indicates an angular connection device for tubular frames, particularly for sporting use, for a crossbar 3 and a stud 2, including a through hole 7, carried out in the crossbar 3 in proximity of one of its end portion and orthogonal to the axis of said crossbar.
The device further includes a concave seat 8, carried out in con-espondence of an end of the stud 2 and having a shape complementary to the external profile of the end portion of the crossbar 3.
The device includes a first transversal through hole 9, having an axis orthogonal to the axis of said stud and carried out in the stud 2, in proximity of the seat 8 for housing a first pin 5. A fixing mean 6, for instance a screw, has a head end which engage a portion of the inner surface of the tubular crossbar 3, the remaining end engages an housing 11 of the first pin 5, constituted for instance by a threaded through hole or a nut thread.
The angular connection device is assembled, in correspondence of an assembling condition M, by inserting the first pin 5 in the first transversal through hole 9 and by fixing the end portion of the crossbar 3 on the concave seat 8 by means of the screw fixing mean 6 which engages the threaded hole 11, passing through the through hole 7.
A variant of the device, shown in figures 2A-3B and 5A, provides the crossbar 3 internally including at least a stiffening mean 13 rigidly connected to said crossbar 3, for instance by glueing, and having a through hole coaxial to the through hole 7. Said stiffening mean 13
■ has a shape complementary to the inner wall of the end portion of the crossbar 3 and can be a tubular element 13a or a tubular portion 13b or a sector 13c with a flat face.
A further variant of the device, shown in the figures 4A and 4B, provides that the crossbar 3 has a second transversal through hole 10, whose axis is usually orthogonal to the axis of the crossbar 3 and is coplanar and perpendicular to the axis of the through hole 7. A second pin 4 is inserted into said second transversal through hole 10, said pin having a hole or through seat 12 to which the screw fixing mean 6 is engaged. In the assembled condition M the through seat 12 is aligned with the through hole 7 and with the through hole 11. In this variant the assemblage of the device is carried out by reciprocally tightening the two pins, first 5 and second 4, acting on said screw fixing mean 6.
In order to make easier the assemblage of the connection device and, particularly, in order to insert and operate on the screw fixing mean 6, the crossbar has a breakthrough hole 15, coaxial to the through hole 7.
Both the crossbar 3 and the stud 2 and the stiffening means 13 usually are made of metallic material, for instance aluminum, or plastic reinforced by fiber glass or other composite plastic material, or reinforced resin.
Furthermore it is provided that the crossbar 3 and the stud 2 have a plurality of stiffening longitudinal ribs 16, usually positioned on the inner surfaces, and have circular, or ellipsoidal or rectangular section.
The variant shown in the figures 6, 7 provides that the crossbar 3 and the stud 2 have end faced in a complementary way being, for instance, both cut with an angle of 45° or others complementary angles. The joining line between the transversal through holes first 9 and second 10 form an oblique angle, for instance of 45°, with respect to the axis of said stud 2 and crossbar 3.
The ends of the crossbar 3 and stud 2 are internally engaged with two angular means 20, 21 by means of corresponding guides 22, for instance "L" shaped, carried out in correspondence of the inner walls of the crossbar 3 and stud 2. It is provided that the angular means 20, 21 are made in metallic material or in strengthened synthetic material.
In the preferred embodiment, and in the variants of the device 1 as well, the first pin 5 has in correspondence of a first end a transversal through hole engaged by an elastic pin 23 fit to avoid the axial disengagement of the first pin 5 from the stud 2.
Similarly, the second pin 10 has in correspondence of a first end a similar transversal through hole engaged by the elastic pin. The stud 2 or the crossbar 3 or both, are provided with a hole 24 fit for housing a bush 25 which is a guide for the movement of the fixing means 6 and for the tool used for screw or unscrew these latter.
It must be underlined that, in case of frames for sporting use, for instance doors for football or handball, the angular connection devices above described, as the whole frame, can be coated by a covering made of polyethylene or foam polyurethane for the protection of the users.
The main advantage of the present, invention is to provide an angular connection device easy to cany out, including few elements for firmly fixing the ends of the tubular elements.
Other advantage is to provide a device which can be easily and quicldy assembled and disassembled, since needing a single screw blocking element for each angular connection, light and thus easily movable. Further advantage is to provide a safety device, fit to resist to collisions and stress and not including dangerous elements, such as protruding elements, when the device is accidentally disassembled.
Other advantage is to provide a device fit to guarantee a suitable blocking even after several disassembling and assembling cycles.
