Abstract

A system for delivering user specified data to a mobile data receiver (20) includes a digital data transmitting station (10) that receives digital signals from a data source (12), and transmits a carrier signal with the digital signals modulated thereon. The mobile receiver (20) receives, demodulates and extracts the digital signals from the carrier signal, and presents it in a user understandable format, in response to receiving user input designating the data that the user desires to receive. A cellular phone (26) operatively connected to the mobile receiver (20), in response to the user's designation of desired data, transmits a corresponding selection signal on the mobile telephone network (32). A second receiver (34) operatively connected to the mobile telephone system (32) and to the transmitting station (10) receives the selection signal and causes the data source to supply digital signals representing the desired data to the transmitter (16) for broadcast to the mobile receiver (20).
