Abstract

The invention relates to an articulated structure (3, 4, 5) supporting medical equipment and apparatus, particularly for patient monitoring or respiratory assistance (6, 8), comprising a more or less arc-shaped rigid handle (12) which is fixed to a stationary element (7) of the piece of equipment. Said handle is provided with at least one manual actuator (11) on the external face thereof, typically of the type having a deformable membrane, which can be used to control a braking/locking device (9, 10) that acts on a hinge pin of the articulated structure. Said arrangement enables the articulated structure to be manoeuvred ergonomically and locked in position instantaneously.

Description

"Handling device of medical equipment supported by an articulated structure" The present invention relates to medical equipment supported by an articulated structure of the type comprising at least one lock release device of the articulated structure in a selected position.

Among the medical equipment, lighting devices, in particular operating theaters, were the first to be supported by articulated structures, generally suspended. These lighting devices have been provided with very early handling organs and locking devices of the articulated structure in a selected position, these members and devices being distinct or preferably combined, as described in US-A-5, 165, 786, in the name of the applicant.

Thereafter many facilities including patient monitoring or respiratory assistance, have been arranged in situ on platforms articulated structure forms, also preferably suspended from the ceiling, as described in EP-A-0969241 , also on behalf of the applicant. These devices may comprise, as the hanging lighting devices, locking devices releasable position of the articulated structure, but which are typically grouped for controlling the various joints, and sometimes not easy access.

The present invention aims to provide improvements to medical equipment supported by an articulated structure and, in particular, devices, simple and ergonomic handling of the supported equipment, facilitating their individual movement, further comprising a single manual actuator for lock / unlock the articulation of this particular equipment rack.

To do this, according to a feature of the invention, the handling device comprises a rigid handle substantially in the shape of a circular arc fixed by its ends to an element of the equipment and having on its outer face, at least one manual actuator, typically of fluidic control. According -other features of this invention: - the equipment is supported by a suspension arm structure, typically by a suspended vertical column itself to an arm, horizontal movement and / or vertical, of the articulated structure; - the locking device comprises at least one braking device acting on a hinge pin of the articulated structure; and

- the actuator comprises at least one deformable membrane to generate a fluid pulse, triggering a pneumatic switch, or trigger an electric switch.

Other features and advantages of the present invention appear from the following description of particular embodiments, given for illustrative title- but not limitation, in conjunction with the drawings in which: - Figure 1 is a diagrammatic perspective view one embodiment of an architecture of medical equipment according to the invention; and

- Figure 2 is a partial schematic top view of the handle with manual actuators of Figure 1.

In the following description and the drawings, identical elements bear the same reference numbers.

In Figure 1, one recognizes an articulated structure for medical equipment support comprising an upper base 1, typically attached to a hospital room ceiling or clinical wherein journalled an upper vertical shaft supporting 2, in the example shown, an upper arm 3, itself bearing in articulated manner a lower arm 4 supports, at its free end, a vertical column 5 on which are mounted, superimposed, a first medical unit 6 and a shelf block 7 having at least two horizontal surfaces or trays to receive, removably, medical devices such as the monitor 8 shown in Figure 1. the vertical axis of articulation between the arm 5 and the bottom column 4 comprises a braking / locking 9 , typically actuated clutch type fluid, in particular compressed air. Typically at least the vertical axis of articulation between the lower 3 and upper 4 also comprises a braking / locking 10 capable of temporarily secure the two arms.

According to one aspect of the invention, at least the braking device 9 controlling the rotation of the column 5 relative to the lower arm 4 is controllable by a deformable diaphragm actuator 11 arranged on a rigid handle 12 substantially arc-shaped of circle attached to its ends on the front of the shelf 7, and made of light metal or rigid plastic material.

As figured schematically in Figure 2, the actuator deformable membrane 11 is operatively connected by a line 13 to a unit 14 for control of the braking device associated 9. Depression of the deformable membrane of the actuator 11 may thus either generate a fluid pulse or trigger a pneumatic switch, the fluidic signals being converted into electrical signals or hydraulic / pneumatic by the control unit 14, either directly trigger an actuator or electric switch. It will be appreciated that with the arrangement according to the invention, the entire suspended structure to the base 1 can be easily moved by hand by gripping the contoured handle 12 allowing to exert pushing or pulling forces in all directions, and once the devices 6 and 8 positioned in the desired position for the operator, a pressure on the actuator 11 blocks the braking device 9, a pressure on the actuator 11 'blocking the braking device 10 and thereby immobilizing the suspended structure in the adopted position.

At any time, this position can be changed by re-pressing one or other of the actuators 11 and 11 'to release the braking device before re-block subsequently optionally the structure in a different selected position. Alternatively, a single switch 11 or 11 'can be used to control all of the braking devices. Also alternatively, the two switches 11 and 11 'can be coupled together and used to secure maneuvering. The present invention is not limited to the embodiments described above. In particular, depending on the nature and complexity of the suspended medical equipment, the handle with the manual actuator may be fixed to any protruding portion of this equipment, including integral with a device fixedly mounted on the articulated structure. It is particularly suitable for suspended articulated structures comprising a plurality of arms each supporting column device holder or equipment.

Claims

1. A device for handling of a medical equipment (7) supported by an articulated structure (2, 3, 4, 5) comprising at least one device (9; 10) the structure of releasable locking in a selected position, comprising at least one manual actuator, characterized in that the device comprises a rigid handle (12) substantially in the shape of a circular arc fixed by its ends to an element of the equipment and having on its outer face, the manual actuator ( 11, 11 '), in that the actuator (11, 11') comprises means for generating fluidic signals, connected to the locking device (9, 10), and in that the locking device comprises at least one braking means (9, 10) which acts on a joint axis of the structure, in response to a fluid signal from the actuator (11, 11 ').
2. Device according to Claim 1, characterized in that the equipment is supported by a suspended arm structure (3, 4).
3. Device according to claim 2, characterized in that the device (7) is supported by a vertical column (5) suspended from an arm (4) of the articulated structure.
