Definitions
- the invention concerns firearms, either automatic or semi-automatic, where by a replacement of the barrel and bolt mechanism with accessories, a conversion of such weapons to weapons with equal functions but using other, typically lower-calibre, ammunition, is performed. This covers the adapters involving the bolt mechanism with accessories.
- the adapter contains a bolt casing with a fixed barrel and the bolt in the casing is supported by lengthwise guides with at least one return spring supported at the end by the bolt plug or bottom, where the principle is that there is, in the plug or bolt bottom, an elongated through hole, in which a recoil carrier is mounted, the length of which exceeds the thickness of the bolt bottom or plug and where its front end is modified to rest on the rear part of the main bolt body, while its rear end is modified to rest on the front part of the recoil absorber body.
- the recoil carrier has, at the part accommodated in the bolt bottom or plug, a cross-like aperture and/or hole, through which a steady pin runs and which is fitted tightly into the bolt bottom or plug body. Furthermore, it is advantageous, if the recoil carrier is accommodated, at the same time, along the central line of the bolt bottom or plug.
- the recoil carrier is mounted, at the same time, along the central line of the bolt bottom or plug and in the part of it that is mounted directly within the bolt bottom or plug body, provided with an oval hole for an anchoring picket and a cross-wise circumferential aperture for the steady pin and where its front end that is modified for rest on the rear part of the main bolt body is created in the form of a widened head of at least one cross-wise dimension greater than the diameter value of the elongated hole in the bolt bottom or plug.
- the recoil carrier is simultaneously mounted along the centre line of the bolt bottom or plug body, provided with a cross-wise oval hole for the anchoring picket, while its front end, which is modified for rest on the rear part of the main bolt body, is formed as a widened area of at least one dimension greater than the diameter value of the elongated hole in the bolt bottom or plug.
- the recoil carrier is slide- mounted in the bolt bottom or plug, while the cross-wise oval aperture and hole in the recoil carrier is aligned against the anchoring picket or, if applicable, the steady pin, under conditions of guaranteed clearance.
- Fig. 1 a substantial part of the weapon with the adapter is shown in the vertical lengthwise cross-section;
- Fig. 2 contains the vertical lengthwise cross-section of the weapon adapter in detail in the version with the out-of centre seated recoil carrier, and in Figs. 3 and 4 the side view of the design of the out-of centre seated recoil carrier in the bolt plug is shown.
- Fig. 5 the weapon adapter is shown in the vertical lengthwise cross-section (enlarged scale) in the centrally mounted recoil carrier version; in Figs. 6, 7 and 8 designs of the centrally-mounted recoil carrier in the bolt plug are shown;
- Fig. 6 shows the left-side view,
- Fig. 7 is the elevation view and
- Fig. 8 is the horizontal lengthwise cross-section of this carrier mounting in the bolt plug.
- the weapon adapter consists of a bolt casing 1 , to the front part of which the barrel 2 with the chamber and borehole for the alternative ammunition type is fixed.
- the barrel is fixed to the bolt casing 1 with the screw cap 3, which may form a part of the fore-end of the weapon adapter.
- Bolt 4 is placed in the casing 1.
- Bolt 4 travels along two guide rods 5 that are built into the barrel 2 and, their rear parts to plug 6 of bolt 4 casing 1 .
- Two return springs 7 are slipped on to these guide rods 5 , beyond bolt 4 , which, together with the original spring 8 of the recoil absorber, impart the return motion to bolt 4 in the forward direction after the shot.
- the interactions of spring 8 with the returns springs 7 are mediated through the recoil carrier 9.
- the recoil carrier 9, in one of the examples, is slide-mounted eccentrically against plug 6_ ⁇ longitudinal centre line in the lengthwise hole
- the shape of the carrier 9 is cylindrical and the side 91 is created in it; the steady pin 64, fix-mounted in the first cross-wise hole 62 of the plug 6, is engaged as a stop end.
- the carrier 9 is situated centrally along the longitudinal centre line of plug 6, and it is also slide-mounted in the lengthwise hole 61 of plug 6, and its shape is roughly also cylindrical except for the front part, where the widened flat head 93 is created.
- this carrier stud 9 is manufactured with the side aperture 9J . and cross-wise central hole 92, of an oval shape. The side aperture 9J .
- the alternative that is not depicted here, may be also designed so that the design option with the centrally situated carrier 9 the function of the steady pin 64 may be taken over by the anchoring picket 63, running through the cross-wise central hole 92 in the carrier 9 so that the independent steady pin 64 and the normally created side aperture 91 and first cross-wise hole 62 may be left out.
- the functions of the gear according to this invention are as follows: When firing the weapon, in particular in the automatic mode, the rear part of the bolt repeatedly hits the recoil carrier, which transfers the shocks to the front part of the recoil absorber that leans on the recoil absorber spring.
- the bolt return movement is provided by the return springs.
- the course of shock transfer is limited by the carrier span. This results in an interaction between the springs both from static and dynamic points of view as well as in the interaction of courses, through this also limited in time, all of which contributes to the reduction in the creation of harmful resonance effects in this whole system of masses and flexible bindings.
- the weapon adapter according to this invention is usable in particular for automatic weapons, in cases where it is necessary to temporarily change their calibres to smaller sizes, typically for the purposes of practice firing.
