A FLUSH, PARTICULARLY FOR SANITARY FACILITIES
The invention concerns a flush, particularly for sanitary facilities, enabling flushing with a disinfecting and/or refreshing solution, formed in a moment of starting a flush operation.
Flushes known from the prior art consist usually of a water tank,
water shutoff valve, ball-cock supply valve and the accompanying release
mechanism elements such as a release double-arm lever with a handle or a push-button.
In the known solutions one end of a release double-arm lever is
connected to an overflow pipe of a supply valve, and the second end
thereof is very often a push-button, but the axis of rotation is located in
a tank lid. Such structure is known e.q. from the Polish National Stan¬
dard PN-87/B-75701 and from the Polish patent specification No. 173674
and a German patent specification No. 33330848.
For sanitary facilities disinfection and/or refreshing purposes toi¬
let dosing containers were used, which are known e.q. from the US pat¬
ent specification No. 4,813,084 and the Polish patent specification No.
170968. The known containers were mounted to a periphery of a lava¬
tory pan and they were provided with a perforated box, wherein a cube
of a solid, water-soluble disinfecting and/or refreshing agent was placed and they had a clip or hanger, which is mounted to the periphery of a
sanitary facility. During flushing some part of a water flows round a disinfecting and/or refreshing cube, dissolving a part thereof in a flushing
water stream.
The Polish utility model description No. 55631 discloses a structure of a container for a smelling and washing substance, which container is placed inside a water tank. The said container has a form of a closed box provided with a vertical barrier and a profiled horizontal lim-
iter and in one wall is has at least two openings located one above the
other. The known container is suspended in a water tank such, that he is completely immersed in water. The disinfecting and refreshing substance is partially dissolved in water filling the upper part of a container
and in a moment of flushing a water carrying the amount of a disinfect¬
ing and refreshing substance, limited with a lower opening and an upper
wall of a container, is flowing from a tank to a sanitary facility pan.
The devices known from the prior art showed a low and short term
efficiency and a perishable refreshing degree of sanitary facilities. This
operation was caused by a practically uncontrolled, often too small or too big amount of taken disinfecting and/or refreshing substance as well as
an non-uniform distribution of a concentration thereof in a mass of a wa¬
ter and also a necessity of a periodical refilling of inserts.
When containers are mounted to the peripheral of a pan, the im¬
purities are collecting in the place a container is mounted and it causes the necessity of an additional periodical washing of such a place. Besides
it, in a place whereon a container is mounted a stream of a flushing water released from the tank strikes a container and forms undesired
swirls which make an unable an appropriate access thereof to all se¬
cluded places of a pan.
The containers mounted inside a water tank of a flush had to be
refilled or replaces periodically by removing a tank lid, which operation
is rather burdensome.
In the prior art a dosing valve is known, which is fitted for mount¬
ing on container outlet. The known dosing valve has a slidable head connected to a small piston spaced with a spring and mounted in a vertical
cylinder and it is provided with a non-return valve located on a suction
conduit. Pressing the head of the known dosing valve causes an outflow
of a controlled amount of liquid, and a return move of the head to a
home position causes a suction of a liquid into a cylinder.
A flush according to the invention comprises a water tank covered with a lid, an inlet shut-off valve, a release supply valve and elements connected with a release supply valve, and in a water tank a container of
a disinfecting and/or refreshing liquid is placed, which is preferably filled
from outside and which is operated with a flush handle connected also
with a release supply valve, while a nose of the outlet pipe is preferably under the water level and a flush handle, when pressed, has two posi¬
tions, which the first thereof causes operation of a dosing valve and the second one causes operation of the release supply valve.
In a particular embodiment of the invention a flush handle is pro¬
vided below with a mandrel, which has a vertical relief , wherein an arm of a double-arm lever slides operating a release supply valve , and a length of the said relief is equal at least to an operative stroke of a dos¬
ing valve head.
The amount of a disinfecting and/or refreshing fluid, which is
dosed in one stroke through a dosing valve is such, that it ensures ob¬
taining a water solution thereof of an optimal concentration, showing a
satisfactory efficiency.
To make a filling operation simple a container of a disinfecting
and/or refreshing fluid is preferably provided with a supplying pipe,
which is led outside the water tank lid and is closed.
The outlet pipe of a disinfecting and/or refreshing liquid container has a closed end provided with several outlet openings directed in differ¬
ent directions, which improves mixing a liquid with water and makes it
more efficient.
The container of a liquid can be made of plastic, metal or ceramics.
The water tank and a liquid container can be made as one piece of
a material.
Operating a flush by pressing a handle first the lower surface of a
mandrel causes the release of a dosing valve and supplying a disinfect- ing-refreshing liquid through the supplying pipe into a mass of water in a water tank, and a further movement of a mandrel directed downwards
operates with a lever the release supply valve of a flush.
An appropriate selection of a dosing valve enables fitting a unit
dose of a disinfecting and/or refreshing liquid to the capacity of a water
tank. Since the liquid is added inside a flush into a water mass volume
filling a tank, components are effectively and precisely mixed and all the
mass of water gets desired properties.
A flush according to the invention enables a precise dosing of an effective amount of disinfecting and/or refreshing liquid and obtaining a
solution thereof of an uniform concentration, which improves an utility
of the liquid. Besides it, a structure of a flush enables to refill a content
of a disinfecting and/or refreshing liquid container easily, without a dismantling of a water tank lid.
The use of a flush according to the invention practically eliminates
a necessity of the additional cleaning of toilet facilities bowls, and also
allows a remarkable decrease of a disinfecting and/or refreshing liquid consumption, which has an influence upon a cost of sanitary facilities maintenance and an environment protection against a chemical and bio¬
logical contamination.
A flush according to the invention can be used in sanitary facili¬
ties such as WC bowls, urinals, bidets mounted in private compartments
as well as in public toilets, and the toilets in public buildings, gastro¬
nomic and amusement places, offices, hotels, airports and railway sta¬
tions, public communication centres, trains, buses and aircrafts. The
broad use of a flush according to the invention may increase a sanitary
and hygienic level of a population and can prevent infections.
A flush according to the invention can be used also for a periodical
flushing and disinfection of working stands in slaughterhouses and
poultry farms.
The embodiment of a flush according to the invention is presented on the enclosed drawing, where
Fig. 1 shows a vertical cross section of a flush,
Fig.2 shows a view of a flush from a top with partially removed water tank lid,
Fig.3 shows a longitudinal cross section of a mandrel of a handle
Fig. 4 shows the end part of a disinfecting and refreshing liquid
outlet pipe.
A flush according to the invention has a water tank 2 of 10 litres
capacity covered with a lid 1, an inlet shut-off valve 3 , and of a double-
arm lever 4 connected to a ball-cock supply valve 5.
In a water tank 2 a container 6 of a disinfecting and refreshing
liquid 7 is placed, which is provided with a dosing valve 8 operated with
a push-button 9 by pressing it with a force P. A handle 9 has a mandrel
11, which rests on the head 10 of a dosing valve 8 and is provided with a
vertical relief 12, wherein an arm of the double-arm lever 13 slides, op¬
erating a ball-cock supply valve 5, where the depth of a relief 12 is
equal to the active stroke h. of a head 10 of a dosing valve. The push¬
button 9, when pressed, has two positions, the first thereof causes op-
eration of a dosing valve 10 and the second one causes operation of the
ball-cock supply valve 5.
A nose of the outlet pipe 14 extends from a container 6 under the
water level and is provided with a replaceable end 15, having small
openings 16 directed in various directions. The dosing valve supplies 2
ml of a liquid 7 in one stroke.
To make the refilling operation simple, a container 6 of a disinfect-
ing-refreshing liquid 7 has a supplying pipe 17 led outside the water
tank 2 lid 1 and is provided with a closing 18.
