Abstract

A compound having strong inhibitory activity against the Maillard reaction; a medicine for use in the prevention of or treatments for diseases in which the Maillard reaction participates; and an additive for preventing the deterioration of cosmetics or foods caused by the Maillard reaction. The compound is one represented by the formula (I) or a pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof. (I) [In the formula, R1 represents alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, unsaturated heterocycle, saturated heterocycle, or phenylalkenyl; R?3, R4, R5, and R6¿ each represents hydrogen, OH, nitro, halogeno, alkyl, alkoxy, mercapto, alkylthio, amino, alkylamino, dialkylamino, or phenyl; R8 represents hydrogen or represents a bond in cooperation with R9; R9 represents hydrogen, alkyl, etc.; and X represents a group (A) (wherein R2a represents alkyl, etc. and R7a represents hydrogen, alkyl, etc.), a group (B) (wherein R2b represents alkyl, etc. and Y represents oxo, etc.), or a group (C) (wherein R2c represents unsaturated heterocycle, etc., R?11c and R12c¿ each represents hydrogen, alkyl, etc., and n is an integer of 0 to 4).]
