Abstract

Selon la présente invention, un premier substrat à affichage à cristaux liquides (ACL) comporte des protubérances servant à tenir un second substrat espacé dudit premier substrat. Ces protubérances peuvent être des pointes, disposées dans des espaces situés entre deux électrodes adjacentes du premier substrat, et conçues pour mettre en contact le second substrat dans des espaces situés entre deux électrodes du second substrat. Ces protubérances peuvent être des pointes ou des crêtes d'une certaine forme, telle qu'une forme conique, dont une zone de surface permet de mettre en contact le second substrat, lequel est plus petit qu'une section transversale éloignée des extrémités distales des protubérances. Le premier substrat peut comprendre un matériau opaque disposé à travers ou dans une couche dudit substrat. Les électrodes du premier substrat peuvent être formées à partir d'un matériau opaque. Le substrat peut comprendre une couche barrière d'alignement pulvérisée.
