Abstract

Les articles hygiéniques jetables sont destinés à absorber et à contenir des exsudats ou des excréments humains pendant des périodes de temps prolongées. L'exposition prolongée de la peau humaine à des exsudats ou des excréments, particulièrement sous forme de liquides, produit un effet délétère aussi bien sur le confort que sur le bien-être de l'utilisateur. Il est par conséquent souhaitable de produire un article hygiénique jetable tel, qu'en présence d'un liquide, le liquide est rapidement transféré loin du contact avec l'utilisateur. Des couches formant une barrière au liquide ont été incorporées dans l'article hygiénique jetable dans ce but même, le plus souvent en tant que sous-couche située entre une couche supérieure et une matière d'âme absorbante. On a remarqué que les textiles non tissés qui ne possèdent pas de propriétés de rétention des liquides appropriées peuvent être transformées et devenir appropriées lorsqu'on les traite à l'aide d'un procédé de compression mécanique. L'application d'une compression mécanique à des textiles non tissés classiques et non complexes permet d'utiliser ces derniers dans un domaine qui jusqu'à présent nécessitait des structures de rétention des liquides complexes et coûteuses.
