Abstract

The invention relates to a method for measuring a profile of a surface, especially the tread of a surface of a tyre or a conveying belt, and to a corresponding device for carrying out this method. The aim of the invention is to provide a means of rapidly measuring several areas of the surface with a simple device. To this end, a signal impulse (s) is sent from a signal source (1) to several reflector devices (5a, b, c). In each case, a part of the signal impulse is reflected onto a surface area (8a, b, c) of a surface (11) as a partial signal impulse (s1, s2, s3). The partial signal impulses that are reflected by the surface areas are reflected from the reflector devices (5a, b, c) to a signal receiver which emits a measuring signal. The measuring signal is divided into temporally separate signal ranges, these ranges being allocated to the different partial signal impulses (s1, s2, s3), and a profile or different profile depths of the surface area concerned are determined from the measuring signal in the individual signal ranges.
