Definitions
- the present invention relates to an element support console for forming a cable tray. It is conventional to make a cable tray by assembling U-shaped elements end to end. The cable tray thus obtained is then fixed to a wall by means of brackets, or suspended from a ceiling by a "hanger", between other possibilities.
- the width of these cable trays is variable depending on the number of cables to be installed.
- An existing console used in this application, is formed by folding a sheet. It includes a trapezoidal part, forming the console itself, a vertical rim pierced with holes, to allow the console to be fixed to said support wall, and a horizontal rim, pierced with holes and notches, for receiving of the cable tray element located next to the console. These notches can receive parts of this cable tray element, the latter being made up of wire mesh or perforated sheet metal, while the holes receive fastening elements comprising tightening bolts.
- This console has the disadvantage of being relatively expensive to manufacture due to its design. Cable trays can indeed be installed in places that are not very accessible, and the fitting of the fastening elements can therefore be difficult to operate.
- the notches, holes and dimensions of this console are adapted to the installation of an element of determined type and dimensions. As a result, it is necessary to have many different types of console to meet the needs, which constitutes a significant practical constraint. Managing these different types of console on the job site can be relatively difficult.
- the console it concerns includes: - a base piece intended to be fixed to a support wall; this basic part comprises, on its side intended to be fixed to this support wall, at least one blocking means capable of receiving a part of the cable tray element located opposite the console, and of blocking this element in a horizontal direction perpendicular to the cable tray;
- a moving part mounted on the base part and comprising at least one blocking means shaped to come into engagement with said cable tray element by simple movement of this moving part in the direction of this element; this moving part is movable between an engagement position, in which it is possible to engage said cable tray element between the locking means that comprise the base piece and the moving piece, and a locking position, in which these locking means are engaged with said cable tray element;
- the console according to the invention thus makes it possible to mount the cable tray very easily and quickly, particularly when the cable tray must be installed in a location which is not very accessible, by providing a very secure mounting.
- this console can be adapted to many types and / or dimensions of cable trays and thus makes it possible to reduce the number of types and dimensions of consoles to be available.
- the console according to the invention also retains a simple and inexpensive structure to produce.
- each blocking means that the base part comprises is shaped so that the cable tray element must be inclined in order to be able to engage with it, and each blocking means which the moving part comprises is shaped to, when it is in contact with the cable tray element, prevent any lifting of this element in relation to the console.
- the cable tray element cannot in any way be inclined after being put in place and locked on the console, which ensures its perfect mounting.
- said holding means are constituted by an elastic member shaped to allow the movement of the moving part between said engagement position and said locking position and to recall the moving part in the locking position. It then suffices to grip the movable part to bring it, against the elastic force of said elastic member, into said engagement position and then to release this movable part so that it returns to the normal locking position.
- each blocking means that comprises the moving part is constituted by a hook
- said holding means are constituted by a deformable structure of this hook, such that this hook can be deformed on the part of the element of cable tray around which it is engaged.
- Each hook is advantageously made of a metallic material, and is shaped so that its deformation can be carried out simply by means of a hammer.
- said holding means consist of at least one clamping means, suitable, when it is tightened, for immobilizing the moving part with respect to the base part.
- the base part is tubular and the movable part is engaged telescopically in the base part.
- each notch is delimited at its lower end by an inclined edge forming a ramp.
- This edge allows the guide of the cable tray element in the notch when this element is simply moved on the console in a direction transverse to the cable tray.
- the installation of the element on the console is notably facilitated.
- the basic part comprises two parts, namely a so-called “fixing” part, intended to allow the fixing of the console to a support wall, and a so-called “receiving” part, intended to receive and support said moving part.
- said fixing part has a length such that it can comprise a plurality of aforementioned locking means, stages over this length, and a plurality of means for its assembly with said receiving part, stages correspondingly , and
- Said receiving part comprises means for its assembly with the fixing part, these assembly means being able to cooperate with the means for assembling the fixing part so as to allow the assembly of the receiving part according to several positions possible steps along the fixing part.
- said fixing part is formed by a profile with a C-shaped cross section and said receiving part is formed by a tubular profile connected to the fixing part, perpendicular to it;
- the fixing part comprises at least one means for fixing it to the support wall, and has two lateral wings which each include a notch as mentioned above;
- said receiving part is received inside said fixing part and has a longitudinal slot opening into its upper face;
- the moving part comprises a C-shaped cross section profile, shaped to be able to be slidably engaged inside said receiving part; this C-shaped section of the movable part comprises at least one hook fixed to the intermediate wall of this section, on the outer face of the latter.
- the base part comprises a trapezoidal part, a vertical rim pierced with holes, to allow the fixing of this base part to said support wall, and a horizontal rim;
- the moving part has an inverted L-shaped section, part of which is placed along said trapezoidal part and the other part of which forms a horizontal edge which comes to rest against the horizontal edge of the base part.

- Figure 3 is an exploded perspective view, with a cable tray element which it allows mounting, according to the second embodiment
- Figure 4 is a sectional view along the line IV-IV of Figure 3, after mounting on a support wall and receiving the cable tray element
- Figure 5 is an exploded perspective view according to a third embodiment
- Figure 6 is an exploded perspective view according to a fourth embodiment.
- Figures 1 and 2 show a console 1 for supporting an element 2 for forming a cable tray.
- the element 2 is in this case of the type made of lattice of metal wires. It has a U shape and is intended to be assembled end to end with other identical elements, to form a gutter for receiving cables, which constitutes the cable tray.
- the console 1 comprises a base part 3, a movable part 4 and a spring 5.
- the base part 3 comprises a metal profile 10 with a C-shaped cross section and a tubular metal profile 11 fixed to the profile 10.
- the profile 10 has an intermediate wall 15, comprising two holes 16 to allow the fixing of the console 1 to the support wall 50, and two lateral wings 17 which each include a notch 18.
- the profile 1 1 is received inside the profile 10 and is welded to the walls 17. It has a longitudinal slot 19 opening into its upper face.
- Each notch 18 is arranged in the part of the profile 10 which extends above the upper face of the profile 1 1 and opens downwards being delimited, at its lower end, by an inclined edge 20 forming a ramp .
- the notches 18 are arranged so that it is necessary to incline the element 2 in order to be able to engage the lateral longitudinal wire 2a that this element 2 comprises at about half the height of its lateral wall in these notches 18.
- the ramps that form the inclined edges 20 allow the guidance of this wire 2a in the notches 18 by simple displacement of the element 2 on the console 1.
- the movable part 4 comprises a section 25 with a C-shaped cross section, shaped so that it can be slidably engaged inside the section 1 1.
- This section 25 comprises two hooks 26 fixed to its intermediate wall 27, on the outside face of it.
- These hooks 26 have an L shape, that is to say each comprise a vertical branch 26a by which they are connected to the profile 25 and a horizontal branch 26b oriented in the direction of the profile 10.
- the branches 26a have lengths such that the branches 26b can be engaged around longitudinal wires 2b of the bottom wall of the element 2, by simply sliding the profile 25 inside the profile 1 1, the slot 19 having a width greater than that of the hooks 26 for authorize this sliding.
- the distance between the two hooks 26 corresponds to the distance between two adjacent wires 2b, so that either only one of the hooks 26 can engage with a wire 2b as shown in Figure 2, but if necessary two hooks 26 can engage with two of these wires 2b.
- these hooks 26 are made of a metallic material, and have a thickness such that they can be deformed by means of a hammer.
- the spring 5 is of helical type and comprises two hooks 30 arranged at its ends, one of which can be engaged in a hole arranged in the underside of the profile 10 and the other of which can be engaged in a hole 31 arranged in the upper face 27 of the profile 25.
- consoles 1 are fixed to the wall 50 by means of screws 51 and several elements 2 are assembled end to end to constitute a cable tray.
- This cable tray is then placed on the consoles 1 and is inclined so as to engage the wires 2a of each element 2 located opposite a console 1 in the notches 18 of this console.
- the section 25 of each console 1 is then grasped and is slid towards an extended position relative to the section 10, against the elastic force of the spring 5, so as to allow the wires 2b of the element 2 to come into contact with the upper face of profile 1 1. Traction exerted on the profile 25 is then released, which allows the engagement of a hook 26 around a wire 2b, or two hooks 26 around two adjacent son 2b.
- FIGS 3 and 4 show a second embodiment of a cable tray support console, based on the same principles as console 1 described above with reference to Figures 1 and 2.

- the base part 3 comprises a part 36 of trapezoidal shape, a vertical flange 37 pierced with holes, to allow the fixing of this part 3 to the wall 50, and a horizontal flange 38.
- Part 36 has a stamped rib 40 and a hole for the passage of the screw 41 of a clamping bolt of the parts 3 and 4 one against the other, this tightening making it possible to immobilize the part 4 relative to the piece 3.
- the rim 38 comprises, on its end close to the rim, a tab 42 of inflected shape, comprising a part 42a suitable for being engaged inside the cable tray element 2, through an opening 35.
- the rim 38 also includes three aligned lights 43.
- the movable part 4 has an inverted L-shaped section, one part 44 of which is placed along the part 36 and the other part 45 of which forms a horizontal edge which comes to rest against the edge 38.
- the part 44 has a longitudinal light 46 allowing its engagement on the rib 40 and its sliding notwithstanding the screw
- the part 45 comprises a hook 26 and three longitudinal slots 47 and two transverse slots 48 which are superimposed on the slots 43 to allow the engagement of fixing bolts in order to secure the element 2 on the console 1 .
- the latter also comprises a nut 49 engaged on the screw 41.
- the element 2 located opposite the console 1 is inclined so as to allow the engagement of the part 42a of the tab 42 in the one of the openings 35.
- the part 4 is then moved so as to allow the engagement of the hook 26 in an opening 35 then the coming of this hook 26 around a wall portion of the element 2 delimiting this opening 35.
- L 'nut 49 is then tightened to immobilize the part 4 in this position.
- FIG. 5 shows a console 1 in which the profile 10 is not permanently fixed to the tubular profile 11 but in which the profile 1 1 can be assembled to the profile 10 according to several staged positions along the length of this profile 10.
- Profile 10 has a section in C; its central wall may include holes for fixing it to a wall, or this profile 10 may comprise, as in the example shown, a fixing head 59 for fixing it to a ceiling.
- the profile 10 comprises two series of curved tabs 60, projecting from the free edges of its lateral wings 17. Each of these tabs 60 delimits a notch 18 having the function of receiving the cable tray element 2, in the same way as supra.
- the wings 17 further comprise two series of holes 61 stages correspondingly to the legs 60, which can receive a pin 62 for assembling the profile 1 1 to the profile 10, or screw, axis, pin or other similar connecting parts.
