Abstract

An apparatus operated by power received from the outside, such as peripheral devices connected to a computer via interface cables and supplied with power via the interface cables, a control device for controlling the operation of an apparatus operated by power supplied from the outside, and a control method; specifically, an apparatus operated involving power consumption exceeding an external power supplying capacity but requiring a normal operation, characterized by comprising a charge unit (or power retaining unit) charged with power supplied from the outside, a monitoring unit for monitoring the charged status of the charge unit (or power retaining unit), and a sequence selection unit for selecting an operation sequence matching the charged status (or power retaining status) of the charge unit (or power retaining unit) out of a plurality of kinds of operation sequences necessary for attaining specified actions in performing the respective specified actions on the apparatus.
