Abstract

A sand filter, preferably for the separation of particles from a liquid, especially water is described. It comprises a preferably rotationally cylindric container (1), with a bottom (2) intended to support a bed (6) of sand particles, an inlet (4) for the liquid at the outer portions of the container, and a centrally located relatively longitudinal outlet (7) for liquid, that has passed the bed. The outlet is provided with a parting wall (8) with openings, that are dimensioned not to admit passage for the sand particles. The sand filter is especially characterised in that a cleaning means (18) is provided to be transferable to the side of the parting wall (8), turned from the bed, with which cleaning means the parting wall may be periodically cleaned from clogging particles.

Description

Regenerating device for sandfilter.
The present invention relates to a sand filter, preferably for the separation of particles from a liquid, especially water, comprising a preferably rotationally cylindric container, with a bottom intended to support a bed of sand particles, an inlet for the liquid at the outer portions of the container, and a centrally located relatively longitudinal outlet for liquid, that has passed the bed, which outlet is provided with a parting wall with openings, that are dimensioned not to admit passage for the sand particles
Such sand filters are known in several embodiments. One problem is common to most of them, namely that the parting wall of the central outlet tends to clogg successively at the side turned from the bed. The object of the present invention is thus to solve this problem.
According to the invention there is provided , at a sand filter of the art mentioned introductorily, a cleaning means able to be transferred to the side of the parting wall, turned from the wall, with which cleaning means the parting wall may be periodically cleaned from clogging particles.
The cleaning means may be designed in different ways, in one advantageous embodiment of the sand filter, as a brush, in a first position axially located outside of said parting wall, in a second position axially located within the space of the parting wall, cleaning movable in relationship to the same. The movement may be axial or rotational, whereby the central outlet is rotationally symmetric, or a combindation of these, the brush may be designed with a core, with a mantel carrying radially directed, relatively short straws. The brush is advantageously provided with straws from polymer material
In one alternative embodiment the cleaning means consists of a rinsing means •whereby liquid may be rinsed cleaning towards the side of the parting wall, turned from the bed. The invention shall be described more closely in the following, reference being made to the enclosed schematic figures, of which: figure 1 shows a view towards an axial section of a sand filter according to the invention with a cleaning means in the form of a brush located outside of the space for th parting wall, figure 2 shows a view like that in figure 1, but with the brush within the space of the parting wall, figure 3 shows the central outlet of a sand filter with another design of the brush, within the space of the parting wall, whilst figure 4 shows the central outlet of a sand filter with a cleaning means in the form of a rinsing means within the space for the parting wall.
In the figures 1 and 2 a rotationally symmetric container is marked by 1, a bottom by 2, an inlet for the liquid by 3. The inlet 3 leads to a number of openings 4, annularly parted around the circumference of the container. Inwards of these there is provided for each opening a plate 5 in the form of an inclined truncated cone for guiding and dividing of the incoming liquid. A sand bed 6 rests upon the bottom 2. A central longitudinal circularly cylindric outlet is marked by 7 with a parting wall 8 in the form of a grating or net, with openings admitting the passage of a liquid, but not sand particles. The outlet 7 leads via a pipe 9 to an outlet pipe 10 with a valve 11 and an overflow 12. An inlet 13 for return rinsing transfers liquid for return rinsing through the sand bed 6 to an outlet 14 for return rinsing. The central outlet 7 is prolonged upwardly by a pipe 15, the diameter of which is somewhat larger than the outlet 7. A piston- cylinder 16 is provided centrally in the pipe 15, carrying a rod 17, which at its lower portion carries a rotationally symmetric brush 18, preferably from a polymer material. This is shown in figure 1 in a non active position and in figure 2 in an active position. It is drawn by the piston - cylinder repetetively upwardly - downwardly, and thereby cleans the parting wall 8. As the brush has a somewhat larger diameter than the central outlet 7, it will be pressed towards the parting wall, and thereby cleans this efficiently. In figure 3 there is shown an alternative design of the brush. In this case it comprises a core 19, at which relatively short straws 20 are fastened. This design admits the straws to work the parting wall efficiently as their tendency to bend, at a certain thickness of the straw, is less than with longer straws according to figure 1.
In figure 4 there is shown a cleaning means in the form of a rinsing means, that is to say a ring 21 with a number of nozzles 22 divided around the circumference. The ring is connected to a feed tube 23 and may be transferred repetitively upwardly- downwardly and thereby rinse the parting wall 8 free from clogings.
