Abstract

A rotary electrical machine (10) particularly useful as a turbogenerator. According to one aspect of the invention, the stator includes a plurality of parallel cores (12) with helical stator windings (14) with a rotor parallel to the stator which is either an electromagnet or a permanent magnet (20, 22). According to a second aspect of the invention, the stator includes a plurality of cores with helical stator windings and a rotor with two permanent magnets flanking the stator cores axially. According to a third aspect of the invention, the stator is a stack of transverse laminations, with each lamination being made of one or two sets of identical lamination pieces having successive laminations staggered. Preferably, a single set of lamination pieces is used with T-pieces having asymmetric crossbars.
