Abstract

L'invention concerne un système permettant la distribution de coupons électronique par l'intermédiaire d'un réseau de communication. Ce système comprend un système (120) serveur e-tail (commerce électronique au détail) possédant un processeur informatique et une mémoire associée à ce processeur, et comprenant des articles destinés à la vente, un système (130) serveur promotionnel comprenant un processeur informatique et une mémoire associée au processeur, ce système (130) de serveur promotionnel comprenant une base de données contenant des données promotionnelles permettant de créer des coupons électroniques, et un système (110) client pouvant être connecté sélectivement au serveur (120) e-tail à travers le réseau de communication. Le système (110) client établit une première connexion avec le système (120) serveur e-tail afin de procéder à une première transaction d'achat au cours de laquelle le système client effectue l'achat d'un article auprès du système (204) serveur e-tail. Le système (120) serveur e-tail est configuré de manière à pouvoir transmettre un fichier témoin (cookie) au système (206) client. Ce fichier témoin contient des informations concernant l'article acheté au cours de la première transaction. Le système (110) client établit ensuite une seconde connexion avec le système (120) serveur e-tail à travers le réseau. Au cours de cette seconde connexion, le système (120) serveur e-tail lit le fichier témoin du système (110) client et transmet l'information du fichier témoin au système (1340) serveur promotionnel, et ce dernier transmet un coupon électronique au système client, ce coupon électronique pouvant être échangé à l'achat d'un article apparenté à l'article (212) acheté.
