Abstract

Described are methods and apparatus for administering a server, initializing a server, and managing and balancing the load of each of the servers in the network. A dynamic store stores run-time information associated with a plurality of servers in a server farm. A load management subsystem is in communication with the dynamic store via an event bus. The load management subsystem receives a request from the event bus to identify a server and transmits a message to the event bus that includes an address to an identified server based on information from the dynamic store. An administration tool for administering the servers in the network includes a graphical user interface communications channel and a graphical user interface module corresponding to a server subsystem, wherein the module is in communication with the channel. The administration tool also includes a transport module in communication with the channel. The graphical user interface module transmits an administration command to the corresponding server subsystem by sending the command to the transport module via the communications channel. Initializing the server includes creating an event delivery object, creating a transport mechanism and binding the event delivery object and the transport mechanism. Initialization also includes initializing a first subsystem. The first subsystem identifies at least one other subsystem and initializes the at least one identified subsystem.
