Abstract

Dans un mode de réalisation, cette invention concerne un système qui convertit des paquets de transport en paquets protocole Internet (IP) par utilisation d'un circuit conduit par un signal d'horloge entrant en provenance du flux de transport. Ce système fonctionne par la réception d'un flux de paquets de transport avec un signal d'horloge entrant associé au niveau d'un module interface. Puis, ce système assemble un paquet IP à partir d'une pluralité de paquets de transport en utilisant un circuit conduit par le signal d'horloge entrant. Ensuite, ce paquet IP est stocké dans une mémoire. Enfin, le système envoie ce paquet IP dans un réseau à destination d'une adresse IP en utilisant un circuit conduit par un signal d'horloge de module interface. Ce signal d'horloge de module interface est généré localement dans le système contenant ce module interface. Dans un mode de réalisation de l'invention, le système assemble une pluralité de paquets IP dans une trame de commande de liaison de données à haut niveau (HDLC). Cette opération permet de réduire le nombre d'interruptions causées dans les systèmes en aval car seule une interruption s'impose pour traiter une trame HDLC, même si celle-là contient de multiples paquets IP, au lieu d'une interruption pour chaque paquet IP. Par ailleurs, le système envoie périodiquement la trame HDLC avec n'importe quels paquets IP disponibles à l'envoi, au lieu d'attendre de disposer d'un nombre minimum de paquets IP. Dans un mode de réalisation de l'invention, le système introduit des états d'attente de durée programmable entre les trames HDLC de façon à ménager suffisamment de temps à un récepteur en aval pour traiter les trames HDLC successives.
