Description
This invention is considered one of the traffic control means using light signals and can be used for handling of pedestrians and city transpor
Background Art There is a lamp signal equipment (author's license of USSR
There is another equipment that controls traffic (author's license of USSRXe 1377889, CL. C08 C 1/095, published. 29.02.88) containing the source of light, three sections of the main signals: red, orange and green color and additional section for turn. Each of the sections listed above consists of the frame with cap and the source of light located inside, reflector and lens. Sections of the main signals are connected between each other. Furthermore, this equipment includes two screens, reversible engine, sensing element of the location in a form of a constant magnet and two hermetic contacts. The first screen is fastened on the main signal sections' frame and the second screen with reversible engine and two hermetic contacts is placed on the back side of the first screen, whereas the axis is kinematicly paired to a body of a complementary section for turn.
Also there is one more known traffic-light that controls street traffic (author's license of USSR Jfel513500, CL. C 08 C 1/095, published at 07.10.89) containing the source of light, three vertical sections of the main signals and two additional sections that are installed on the lower main section's level. Each section consists of the frame with the cover and sun-protection visor. The optical unit containing the light reflector, the source of light and the color divergent lens is set into the cover. The lenses of additional sections are equipped with stencils in a shape of arrows on the black font Additionally, a traffic-tight has glass- fibre optical waveguides. The source of the main sections' light of a
is optically paired to butt-ends of glass-fibre optical waveguides, other butt-ends of which are arranged on concentric
circumferences around the lenses of complementary sections.
All of the inventions are made on a really high level. However, their poor self-descriptiveness, that is shown in insufficient visualization of the main signals' images and in determination the residual time of their operating, makes difficult their reading in the mghttime. If the light source is going out of operation, an emergency situation is likely to appear because of absence of its duality.
The closest technical solution to stated is the dynamic pedestrian traffic-light (author's license of USSR N21795502, CL. C 08 C 1/095, pubHshed. 17.07.89) containing the frame, the shield with images of the authorizing green color and prohibiting red color's signals shown as a dynamic figure of a pedestrian. Behind the figure of the pedestrian two color indicator lamps, the block of the figure dyri-arnic control, the block of crossroads control and the power block. The figure is made out of tree hingedly connected between each other dark color parts and installed in front of the light translucent screen. One of the figure's parts is fixed comparatively to the frame and attached to the screen and other are kmeiTiaticly and hingedly connected by the beam between each other. The block of the figure dyiiamic control contains mgh-orimic wire, one end of which is attached to the frame through the maiden insulator, and another end of the wire is connected with driving body of the switch through the second insulator. For instance, with driving body of the tumbler which is affixed with one end of the beam through the control-rod. Another end of the beam is attached to frame using the spring. The control block exits are attached to indicator
lamps tjy the form of an intersection. The step-down transformer, one end of a secondary winding of which is connected to one end of a high- ohrnic wire and another one through the switch is connected to another end of a wire, linked up parallel to the green-color lamp. However, self-descriptiveness of the mentioned dyriamic traffic- tight is limited because of visual residual time's absence in operation of signals and its ability to work only together with the traffic-light. Absence of the alert can further the rise of emergency situations on the road. Disclosure of invention.
The main purpose of the suggested invention is creation of effective in operation traffic-light that can provide with the help of increased self-descriptiveness of main signals secure street traffic both for pedestrians and the transport. Increase of self-descriptiveness and rehability in operation can be best achieved by the fact that the traffic-light contains the frame, shield with the image of dynamic figures and color indicator elements behind it, two blocks of dynamic of the figures and crossroads control and the power block. Also behind the shield a complex section made out of color indicator elements assembled in the form of tliree interdependent cells, including the cell that corresponds to figures of geometrical arrows is arranged. The section of the first cell comported by green color elements. The second cell is shown by the way of two pairs of the solid crossed bands that are located along the screen's symmetry axis and made of yellow color elements. Finally, the third cell is made
of red-color elements in the form of four angular squares located in the corners of the screen and rectangular horizontal band with "STOP" inscription made.
Moreover, color indicator elements can be made of tight einitting lamps or resilient tight discs that are working together with iUumination.
The increase of self-descriptiveness is achieved by the exact indicating of authorizing motion's direction in the form of geometrical green color arrows and by strengthening the prohibitipn for particular directions in the form of red-color angular squares on the screen. The introducing of the alert of yellow color by the way of two pairs of the solid crossed bands located along the screen's symmetry axes works in pulse mode. It informs driver in advance about presence of uncontrolled crossroad ahead fjehind some meters up to an approaching. All of the signals mentioned above, in comparison with existing ones, have different geometrical forms and an opportunity to determine exactly the residual time of their operation, which in turn facilitates the achromates, old people and children's perception.
Increased level of reliability in operations in the suggested invention is achieved using the one complex section assembled with huge amount of emissive or resilient light indicator elements because breakage of one element only distorts the form of the signal, but does not lead to its loss.
Brief-Description of Drawings. On the fig. 1 representing the traffic-light in projections; on
the fig. 2 -13 - scheme explaining the dynamic of movement of the main signal figures.
The traffic-light consists of the metallic frame 1, the shield fastened inside 2 with images of dynamic figures corresponding to the main signals. Behind the shield 2 locates the complex section 3 that is made of color indicator elements 4 assembled in the form of three interdependent cells. The first cell 5 that corresponds to the figures of geometrical arrows is made of green-color elements. The second cell 6 is presented in the form of two pairs of the solid crossed bands located along the screen's symmetry axes and assembled of yellow- color elements. The third cell 7 is made of red-color elements in the fomi of four angular squares and rectangular band with "STOP" inscription on it.
The color idicator elements can be made of light errtitting lamps or light resilient elements that work together with the fflumiiiation 8. Inside the metallic frame 1 the following elements are also located: the block of control of figures dynamic 9, the block of crossroad control 10 and the power block 11.
The traffic-light works in the following way: In the period corresponding to the condition of traffic-light
«Traffic is permitted>> signal from the control block 9 goes to the block of figure dynamic control 10. The first cell 5, coirforrning to the figures of geometric arrows that show the direction of aumorizing motion, is lit up with green color (fig.2). By the end of operation of authorizing signal arrows start to be reduced on a direction of traffic, indicating
thereby tem ination of the authorizing signal, (fig.3). Some separate elements of the arrows stay after several seconds before the termination of aumorizing signal's operating (fιg.4).
In case the one of lateral directions is closed, the arrow does not light and in the comer of the closed direction the angular square 7 of the cell is lit up with red color (fig.5, 6). Additionally, in case the forward direction is closed, two upper angular red squares 7 are switched on (fιg.7) and if one of the lateral directions is closed as well - then the conforming squares of the lower and upper angular are switched on (fig.8, 9).
After the authorizing signal stops operating, all green elements disappear from the screen. From the block of crossroad control 10 the signal "Attention - changing of the signals" goes to the block of figure dynamic control 9. Then the cell 1 is switched on and two pairs of the solid crossed bands are lit up with yellow color located along the screen's symmetry axes (fig.10).
The signal that corresponds to the condition of a traffic-light "The traffic is ceased" and that switches on the whole cell 7 goes from the block of crossroads control 10 to the block 9 in order to replace the alert. Then four angular squares and rectangular horizontal band with "STOP" inscription are lit up with red color (fig.12). By the end of prohibition of the signal's "The traffic is ceased" operating, the rectangular horizontal line with "STOP" inscription, which informs about the close termination of prohibition, is switched off (fig. 13).
When the traffic-light works in the regime "Uncontrolled crossroads" the cell 6 that works in pulse mode is switched on, but in case the traffic is controlled by a traffic-controller in the upper part of the vertical band, one third of the cell is absent (fig.11). Industrial Applicability.
The suggested traffic-light can be serially produced of metal, plastic, glass and resilient light film using the standard equipment and ordinary technical processes.
Peculiarities of the suggested traffic-light's construction, namely cluality of the light sources by entering considerable number of indicator elements, increase the visualization of the main signals' images and safety in operation. Finally, this allows decreasing the number of appeared emergency situations on the crossroads and facilitating the signals' perception by achromates, old people and children.
