Abstract

The invention concerns a mobile telephone network (19) implementing a messaging service, for sending a message (14) from one mobile telephone (1) to another (3). The service is programmed so that the message (14) should, according to the user's (2) option, be instantly displayed or not on the mobile telephone (3) of the addressee (4). The invention concerns a method enabling the user (2) to use the instant display option. The method comprises steps which consist in: inserting in the message (14) a parameter/identifier specifying whether the message should be instantly displayed; transmitting the message to a server-router (5); for the server-router (5), controlling and modifying the parameter/identifier, in accordance with the choice of the sender (2) of the message (14); routing the message (14) to the mobile telephone (3) of the addressee (4). If the addressee's mobile telephone detects the presence of the parameter/identifier, the message is instantly displayed.

Description

INSTANT DISPLAY OF MESSAGES TRANSMITTED BY A MOBILE TELEPHONE

The present invention relates to a method allowing all sending users, whatever the state of their mobile phone, to benefit at least from the "instant display" option. There exists on mobile telephone networks a text messaging service which makes it possible to send a message from a mobile telephone to one or more other mobile telephones. These services have been programmed so that the user can specify via his telephone whether the message sent should be displayed instantly. The "instant display" service is referenced: "Class 0" in the GSM standard.

To this end, provision is made for mobile telephones to include an "instant display / non-instant display" function. It is expected that the option "instant display" or the option "non-instant display" can be selected by the user on a menu appearing on the screen of the mobile telephone. It can also be chosen by the user by means of a key on the keyboard. It is further provided that the "instant display" option automatically generates the instant display values. in the specific field of the message frame when building this message.

The server of the operator operating the mobile telephone network routes the message containing the instant display values in the specific field to the recipient's mobile telephone. The receiving mobile phone recognizes the instant display values and instantly displays the received text message on the screen.

However, today most mobile phones do not have this instant display function. Users are therefore not able to choose the instant display mode. By default, mobile phones send messages in non-instant mode.

The problem to be solved is therefore the following: how to allow the user of a mobile telephone "not equipped" with the "instant display" function to send a message so that it is displayed instantly on the or recipients' mobile phones?

To the knowledge of the inventor, the prior art does not offer a technical solution.

The invention applies to a mobile telephone network designed, in particular according to the GSM standard, to implement a messaging service making it possible to send, from a mobile telephone to one or more mobile telephones, a message comprising a text and a frame.

The messaging service is programmed so that the text of the message is, depending on the option chosen by the user, displayed instantly or not on the recipient's mobile phone. All or part of mobile telephones do not include the means necessary for the sending user to benefit from the options: instant display or non-instant display.

The invention relates to a method enabling all sending users, regardless of the state of their telephone. mobile, to benefit at least from the "instant display" option.

The process involves several steps.

It includes the step of inserting into the message intended for the recipient a predetermined parameter / identifier specifying whether the message should be displayed instantly.

It also includes the step of transmitting the message to a server-router.

It also includes the step, for said server-router, of controlling and if necessary, modifying the predetermined parameter / identifier, according to the choice made by the user sending the message.

It also includes the step of routing the message to the recipient's mobile phone. Thus, if the recipient's mobile phone detects the presence of the predetermined parameter / identifier, the message is displayed instantly.

In a preferred embodiment, the step of inserting into the text of the message intended for the recipient a predetermined parameter / identifier specifying whether the message should be displayed instantly, comprises the step, for the sending user, of inserting into the text message an agreed identifier parameter, for example a character or a combination of characters such as an exclamation point "!", in particular at the beginning of the text message.

The server 20, available to the telecommunications operator which manages the mobile telephone network 19, can act as server-router. In fact, it has been seen, in this alternative embodiment, that the parameter / identifier 16, composed of instant display values, was directly inserted into the frame 14b of the message 14 by the software module contained in the SIM card 12a. Consequently, a server-router 5, used to replace the character 15 with the parameter / identifier 16, composed of the instant display values, is no longer necessary. Figures 4 and 4a show a fourth variant of the preferred embodiment of the invention.
