Description

ESTABLISHING A TELEPHONE CALL WITHOUT DISCLOSING THE CALLED PARTY ' S TELEPHONE NUMBER
The subject of the invention relates to a procedure for establishing a telecommunications link directed between a caller and the called party during which through the call-initiating communication unit belonging to the caller the identifying data of the called party is fed into the telecommunications network, following this the identifying data of the called party is sent to the connection centre with the help of the input branch of the telecommunications network, the identifying data of the called party is read in the connection centre, evaluated and on the output branch of the telecommunications network directed towards the called party an information-forwarding channel is made to the call-receiving communication unit of the called party, and so the telecommunications link is established in this way
With the development of the equipment serving telecommunications networks an increasing number of services have become available to subscribers Among these is the possibility that the subscriber can store the telephone numbers frequently dialled in his/her virtual memory location in the service provider's centre, then later instead of dialling these numbers the caller can call the desired telephone number by giving the code belonging to the memory register Such a solution can be found e g in patent description publication number WO 97633439 While the patent document with registration number HU 216 210 presents a procedure relating to the redirection of a telephone line
The deficiencies of the known redirection and called number storage solutions is, however, that the caller must have access to one or another of the called party's telephone numbers, and so later on the caller has the possibility of unnecessarily calling the other partv on the basis of the number acquired earlier
Recently so-called "premium rate telephone lines" have gained increasing popularity, the essence of which is that the operator of the line provide certain information or services to the caller after the telephone number has been dialled. On dialling the telephone number the caller accepts that he/she will be paying a higher than usual fee to the telephone company, which then divides the profit with the operator of the premium rate telephone line Dating services are also operated on these premium rate telephone lines
A deficiency of these services is, however, that when using them the caller and the called party - in order to avoid later problems - do not get into direct contact with each other Contact may take place through a voice mailbox, but getting into contact in person can not be preceded by a conversation in which both the caller, but especially the called party is able to retain his/her anonymity while they are obtaining important information about the person they are talking to.
With the procedure according to the invention our objective was to overcome the deficiencies of the known dating services operating using telecommunication networks and to work out a solution which would create the possibility for the people using the service to get into direct telephone contact with each other without there being any risk of the access information of one of the parties, e.g. telephone number, getting into the possession of the other party accidentally or illegally.
The recognition that led to the procedure according to the invention was that if we connect and use the structural elements known in themselves in a way other than that known, then it is possible to carry out the formation of the identifying data, the code number combination of the memory register, the storage of the called party's telephone number and its retrieval according to unique steps, and so establish the telecommunication link in a special way, and as a consequence of which the task can be solved.
In accordance with the set aim the procedure according to the invention for establishing a telecommunications link directed between a caller and the called party - during which through the call-initiating communication unit belonging to the caller the identifying data of the called party is fed into the telecommunications network, following this the identifying data of the called party is sent to the connection centre with the help of the input branch of the telecommunications network, the identifying data of the called party is read in the connection centre, evaluated and on the output branch of the telecommunications network directed towards the called party an information-forwarding channel is made to the call-receiving communication unit of the called party, and so the telecommunications link is established in this way - is based on the principle that before establishing the telecommunications link an identifying centre is established consisting of memory registers and the identifying centre is supplied with a piece of individual identifying data, the called party's own telephone number is stored in a memory register in advance directly or with the intervention of a mediating unit, where it is stored, the memory register is given a piece of internal identifying data and henceforward the called party is identified with the identifying data formed from the piece of individual identifying data of the identifying centre and the internal identifying data of the memory register, during the establishment of the connection the identifying data arriving at the connection centre from the caller relating to the called party is interpreted, with the help of the piece of individual identifying data the identifying centre is selected, while on the basis of the piece of internal identifying data the contents of the memory register of the identifying centre are retrieved and fed into the connection centre, then the telecommunication link between the caller and the called party is realised with the help of the fed in telephone number
A further criterion of the procedure according to the invention may be that the identifying centre's telephone number is used as the piece of individual identifying data
In a further inception of the procedure the telecommunications network is used to link the identifying centre to the connection centre In a further different version of the invention the telecommunications network is used to connect the identifying centre and the call-receiving communication unit of the called party.
Again in a further realisation of the procedure the telephone number of the called party is fed in advance into a memory register, again with the help of the telecommunications network.
The advantage of the procedure according to the invention is that with its help it is possible to establish direct telephone connections between the caller and called party in the process of dating services, in such a way so that under no circumstances does the caller gain access to the called party's telephone number, so during the first direct contact the parties talking may retain their anonymity. If the called party does not wish to continue with the contact, then his/her access data has not become known. So the called party is not at risk of being reached later on and due to it having to e.g. change his/her telephone number.
An advantage of this is that due to the secure contact detailed above the number of people using the service may increase, and this may lead to more successful relationships being established, which, finally, on the social level may create a more favourable feeling of well being.
An economic advantage is that due to the increased number of contacts and the possibility of speaking live, the number and duration of premium rate calls increases, which may result in a significant increase in income for the service provider.
Henceforward the procedure according to the invention is presented in detail in connection with examples with the help of a drawing. On the drawing
Figure 1 is the diagrammatic view of the group of equipment used for the procedure. On figure 1 there is a normal telecommunications network 30 to which the caller's 10 call- initiating communication unit 11, in other words telephone, is connected through the input branch 31 of the telecommunications network 30, while the telecommunications network 30 can connect to the called party's 20 call-receiving communication unit 21 through the output branch 32 The telephone number 22 is associated with the call-receiving communication unit 21 of the called party 20
The connection centre 40 forms a part of the telecommunications network 30, which may be a traditional or digital exchange, and its task is to create the telephone connection between the caller 10 and the called party 20 in the usual way
Figure 1 shows the identifying centre 50, which in essence contains all of the memory registers 51 Every single memory register 51 has a piece of internal identifying data 53, in other words code number, which points to the position of a given memory register 51 within the identifying centre 50 The identifying centre 50 itself also has a piece of individual identifying data 52, which, practically, is the identifying centre's 50 telephone number It needs to be mentioned here that in the case of a digital connection centre 40 the identifying centre 50 could simply be a part of the connection centre 40 itself In the case of an external service provider, however, the arrangement according to figure 1 is more probable, in other words that the connection centre 40 and the identifying centre 50 are separated physically, and in a given case at quite a distance from each other
It also has to be mentioned that the identifying centre 50 can be in connection with othei equipment, or may be a part of other equipment, this, however, from the point of view of the procedure, is unimportant
In the following the procedure will be presented in connection with an example Example 1 :
In the present version of the procedure the called party 20 wished to use the services offered by a dating agency. In the scope of this we created a telephone connection between the caller 10 and the called party 20. Firstly we stored the telephone number 22 of the called party 20 in an automatic identifying centre 50, in such a way so that the telephone number 22 of the called party 20 was fed into the memory register 51 of the identifying centre 50 and stored there temporarily. Instead of the own telephone number 22 of the called party 20, we gave the called party 20 a piece of identifying data 23 put together from the piece of individual identifying data 52 of the identifying centre 50 and the piece of internal identifying data 53 of the memory register 51 that conceals the telephone number 22.
When the caller 10 reading the attention-grabbing advertisement relating to the called party 20 desired to get into contact with the called party 20, the caller 10 input the identifying data 23 relating to the called party 20 into his/her call-initiating communication unit 1 1 , which gained access to the telecommunications network 30 through the input branch 3 1 of the telecommunications network 30 and reached the connection centre 40.
The connection centre 40 selected the identifying centre 50 from the piece of individual identifying data 52 to be found in the first half of the identifying data 23, where the telephone number 22 of the called party 20 had been stored. When the connection centre 40 contacted the identifying centre 50, then on the basis of the second half of the identifying data 23 sent into the telecommunications network 30 by the call-initiating communication unit 1 1 of the caller 10, in other words, the piece of internal identifying data 53 in the identifying centre we selected the memory register 51 from which we again read the telephone number 22 of the called party 20. The read out telephone number 22 then was sent through the telecommunications network 30 to the connection centre 40. The connection centre 40 then following this constructed the telecommunication connection - in a way known in itself- through the output branch 32 of the telecommunications network 30 with the call-receiving communication unit 21 of the called party 20, and so connected the call- initiating communication unit 11 of the caller 10 with the call-receiving communication unit 21 of the called party 20.
The procedure according to the invention can be well-applied in cases when it is an important requirement of a controlled established telephone connection that the data of the called party does not get into the possession of the caller.
