Abstract

The invention relates to a turbo decoder which is provided for decoding a data signal (D) transmitted over a disturbed channel and which comprises a symbol estimator (MAP_DEC) and a digital signal processor (DSP). Inside a calculating loop of the iterative turbo decoding, the symbol estimator (MAP_DEC) conducts two symbol estimations and the DSP conducts an interleaving procedure and a deinterleaving procedure. A bi-directional interface (FMI) is provided for the transmission of data between the symbol estimator (MAP_DEC) and the DSP.
