Abstract
The invention relates to a device (10), through which a medium flows, comprising a wall (11) surrounding an interior chamber (12) through which a medium passes and a sensor device (13), positioned on the exterior (14) of the wall (11), for detecting vibrations or oscillations. During operation, the sensor device (13) generates signals which represent vibration or oscillation variables. An evaluation unit evaluates the signals, whereby the evaluation unit determines the flow parameters from the vibration or oscillation variables. The sensor device (13) for example, comprises a PVDF piezo film sensor which is glued onto the exterior of a conduit. The flow parameters for a medium which passes through the conduit are determined from the variables that correspond to the measurement of the vibration and/or oscillation variables on the exterior of the line or conduit. The flow speed and the mass throughput, for example, can be determined by filtering and calculating the mean square root value.
